I did something gross and entered “fox news - padilla” in google, and at the top of the first page were four stories, the top left one showing the quote snippet “Spectacle of himself”, and I’m like - riiiiiiight, got it. All I needed to look at.
And that was that.
I’ve been assured that the good Republicans, courts and/or other institutions will stop things like this from happening so we’re good.
Over on Fox News, this story has a banner of “LEFTIST MELTDOWN”. For real.
Have left the field and are working the CNN/MSNBC/DNC circuit and working on a book entitled, “If Only We Were In Charge…” as if they hadn’t spent the last several decades contributing to the erosions of democratic norms in the name of party. (Yes, I do mean Liz Cheney regardless of how much she galpal’d Kamala Harris in an effort to distinguish herself for a post-MAGA world.)
It’s always Somebody Else’s Problem to deal with annoying things like maintaining democracy and assuring free and fair elections, i’n’it?

Almost certainly not. To my knowledge, that’s always been interpreted as immunity only while literally in an open Congressional committee hearing or session.

I don’t know Jared Golden but Maine has kind of a tradition of producing contrarians in both parties, and of course Angus King.

These days, you have to withhold judgment before making statements like this, because there are a lot of trash Democrats who are indistinct from right-wing plants. (The Dems aren’t alone in this btw, obviously the Greens are totally compromised and a lot of the progressives and leftists are very smelly as well).
I’ve never held a lot of brief for the “both parties are the same” crowd, but a huge contingent of Dems appears to be capitulating or outright collaborating at this point. We should’ve known that a party that couldn’t get rid of Tulsi Gabbard had a soft, chewy center that would easily become gobbled up by Republicans when push comes to shove.
I just watched a video by Thai Rivera on this subject ( rather not post it as its not helpful) and he showed the video which seems to show Noem speaking and Padilla interrupting in the middle of it. He shouldn’t have been treated like he was but is that okay to interrupt instead of waiting for questions?
He was treated with overkill but it was the first time I saw the video at all.
