During the run-up to the potential government shutdown, Boxer claimed that Republicans targeting Planned Parenthood would cut off vital non-abortion services that they offer, including mammograms. This was an oft-repeated claim, in fact.
Planned Parenthood doesn’t offer mammograms. An activist group recorded multiple calls to various Planned Parenthood centers, and the universal response was that they could give the caller a list of places that did mammograms, but they did not actually perform them.
Sexual & Reproductive Wellness This is what they provide to the poor. The organization should be ended because Boxer was wrong. That sort of error should not be tolerated.
All this without Okeefe and Brietbart. They must be alerted.
Boxer could not have merely made an error or repeated info given to her. It had to be a deliberate and inexcusable lie.
This is super weak. Family Planning does provide cervical and breast cancer screenings. Did Boxer erroneously assume that meant mammograms? Maybe. So fucking what. No essential point is altered.
Bricker, you’re usually there with the cites. Do you have one for Senator Boxer responding with a denial when challenged on the mammogram-availability bit?
Do you have a cite for her actually BEING challenged on the mammogram-availability bit? Failing that, I’m beginning to see this as a “poke at the liberals” OP. Not really like you, man. More of a december-type thing.
People were calling out Kyl for his hyperbole about the Planned Parenthood funding, so he’s doing the same to Boxer about her hyperbole about the Planned Parenthood funding.
If this had been a half-way accurate attack on Boxer, I would’ve joined in, because I think she’s worthless as a senator. But this is the most worthless Pit thread since the last Dio pitting.
If you think they are the same thing you’re an idiot. Bricker may not be an idiot, but he’s dishonest enough to use something that is superficially similar to create an illusion of being correct.
Still sad to see how over the years Bricker has devolved to posting such a number of partisan hack threads. He used to represent conservative viewpoints (and still does in many posts) but the signal to noise ratio has really fallen.
There are Brickrolls, threads where he posts a scenario while holding a shoe behind his back – letting it “drop” halfway down the page. Those have become much more transparent.
There are these sorts of mock parody threads, desperately finding hypocrisy in order to, what, deflect from some other transgression? Almost like a tattle tale. Yeah, those kids are bad too, they knocked over the sandbox last week. Good catch!
There are World Class Limbo-like uber-parsing of situations where things are technically this/that way as it suits the partisan wind.
There are gross extensions of the doubt and tight reigning of it in, again depending on partisan jurisdiction.
It’s unfortunate. There used to be a much higher quality to his posts. Not that there isn’t still some good to be found, but the conservative viewpoint is vastly different from the conservative marketing that the former is lost. It’s kind of like Roger Ailes took over Bricker’s internal editorial department.
Actually, the shame is similar to that of Fox news. For every weak thread, there are a host of stronger conservative views and subjects out there that would have been betterp presented but missed their chance. Sometimes I think of adopting a conservative viewpoint just so there is more representation and less drivel. I’d throw down the gauntlet if ppd were anywhere similar.
What Kyl said wasn’t hyperbole, it was outright shameless lying, and it was a lie which a deliberate and significant attempt to mislead the public in a meaningful way.
What Boxer said wasn’t hyperbole either, just an erroneous, but basically insignificant assumption about what “cancer screening” entailed. her error was not an attempt to mislead, and did not alter or distort any significant point.
If Bricker was really trying to hold these things as equivalent, then it’s not one of his best efforts.
I would characterize Boxer’s comment as “close enough” to the truth not to matter. Kyl was nowhere near the truth.
Sorry, Bricker, no sale. 1) You appear to be pushing a false equivalence; 2) even if it wasn’t, the Hon. Sen. Kyl is and shall remain a flaming asshole, a douchebag and eminently worthy of criticism; 3) last I checked, you don’t fucking get to decide what subjects of discussion are permissible around here, and 4) I’d get thee to a fire extinguisher quick, as there increasingly appear to be flames emanating from your bottom as well.
It’s not Bricker’s fault; He has an inoperable brain tumor, that is severely affecting his ability to form logical, coherent arguments.* Try to be a little nicer to him.
I’d just like for Bricker to come back and clarify whether the statements in the OP are intended to be factual statements. You know, like by citing them.
