Senator(s) against teachers who are single mothers?

I was listening to Howard Stern’s show this morning and while lamenting the election results and his opinion about how far to the right this country is leaning he mentioned that two senators were elected Tuesday who are against homosexuals and single mothers (parents maybe?) as school teachers.

A google search turned up some information about Jim DeMint, a newly elected S. Carolina senator, but only mentioned he is against gay people teaching, not single parents. Anyone else heard about this? Who is this other Senator Stern was talking about?

DeMint didn’t exactly come out against “single parents” being teachers, but he most definitely said that unmarried pregnant women shouldn’t be in the classroom ( I will try to find a cite ).

He did not take a stand against unmarried male teachers who have fathered illegitimate children. Draw your own conclusions.

No clue who the other Senator might be.

Here is one of many news and opinion stories I found by googling “Demint” + “unmarried” + “teachers”: http://www.sacbee.com/24hour/opinions/story/1739058p-9566650c.html

He sure did.
