What is the prognosis of South Dakota Senator Tim Johnson? Could he still die or resign now? If he did, it might offset the balance of power in the U.S. Senate.

He’s in a private facility, undergoing physical therapy and working from his bed. Recovery is supposed to take several months.
It’s also likely that he will run for re-election in 2008, according to several news reports I’ve seen (such as this). Money is being raised, and he really wouldn’t have to do all that much campaigning, just enough to show that he’s fighting for it.
