Mal: “I’m aimin’ to misbehave.”
I’ll be there (well, at the Denver showing)! I hadn’t heard the rumor about cast members showing up, I’ll keep an eye out for them, and poke my nose into the post-viewing thread.
silensus: you take the ugly one, I’ll get the other.
ExTank: “I would appreciate it if one person on this boat would not assume I’m an evil, lecherous hump.”
Well, okay, no. But what with all the slobbery excessive praise all over the boards, I felt compelled to check it out. Besides how else was I to get all the “I’ll be in ma bunk” and “Him. I choose him” jokes? I just needed that sense of belonging here on the dope.
Anyone heard from NE Texan lately? Someone should probably post the “announcement” thread soon.
You were supposed to say “As a matter of fact, you did.”
and I would say, “Oh. Never mind.”
Get with the program.
Oh. Well, then. Never mind.
Let me start by saying that I had no interest in the show. I mean really, Cowboys in Space envisioned by The Creator of Buffy? Not my bag, but a work buddy cajoled me about watching Firefly back before the DVD release and went so far as handing me VCDs of the first three broadcast episodes.
I reluctantly watched the first broadcast episode (The Train Job) out of a sense of duty to the enthusiastic pleadings of my buddy. It was watchable. Since I had 3 episodes I figured I might as well watch the rest of them. Bushwhacked was also watchable, so I popped in Our Mrs. Reynolds and I fell. I fell hard. What an awesome combination of story, character, and setting. I still maintain that episode would be a successful movie. I went to work the next day and begged my buddy to get me the rest of the show.
Long story short: watched the whole season, bought the DVDs, talked all my friends into watching them, converted most all of them into fans. I also shared the pain of the rest of the fans in the realization that there was only one season to experience of the rich landscape populated with these wonderful characters.
So with great joy I leapt at the news that I was offered a chance to watch Serenity last Thursday. There is much that was good about the film. The characters, the scenes, the action, the suspense, the humor, I could go on. All components of what made the series great. I’m sorry to report that I cannot recommend it as highly as the series.
Without spoiling anything it seems as if there was an attempt to wrap a story around a message, but sadly the story feels to be just that - wrapping paper.
Hey, cool! Wondertwin powers, activate!
Good gad.
Yeah, really, where is that good-for-nothing…
Oh, wait, that’s me!
Sorry I’m late - (“I wish the real world would just stop hasslin’ me”) - got busy, but here’s the announcement thread!
I just want to say that I saw the trailer in the theater today and. . .
WOW!!!
As good as it was online, I can’t wait for this now. This is where they belong!
Hey, what movie was the trailer with? I was hoping it would be with Hitchhiker’s, but it wasn’t (at least where I am).
Thanks…
Just got home from Serenity. I’ll start a thread tomorrow, if sciguy doesn’t/hasn’t beaten me to it.
But for now…whew! Just…
shiny!
It was with Hitchhikers in my theatre. So, I’m no help.
ddgryphon: Was there any sort of audience reaction to the trailer that you could tell? Good, bad, indifferent?
