Series you've recently watched, are now watching or have given up on

Yeah, that made no sense. Every mother I know is like a mama bear protecting her kids.

So far, I agree with you. Maybe s4 is rated Meh.

I just started Deadly Tropics (Prime). So far it looks fun and the scenery is amazing. It’s set on Martinique and if I watch enough of it maybe I’ll learn French.

Season 3 of Only Murders in the Building is probably the best season so far. It’s funny, at turns moving, thoughtful, well-cast, the music is great, it’s thematically on point, and it features a goldfish named President McKinley.

We finished the entire run. Our experience was thus:

“That was stupid”
“Yes, it was”
“Wanna watch the next one?”
“Yes, I do”

I just finished it. I watched the first episode and didn’t think it was particularly funny. Then I heard an interview with the director on the podcast Fly on the Wall and I gave it another shot. It definitely picked up once the really crazy stuff started happening.

Good to know; maybe I’ll give it another go.

I see that season two of Reacher has started on Prime. At least this guy looks like the guy in the novel, unlike Tom Cruise.

Yeah, cruise is not a bad actor, but he just is not Jack reacher.

If they’d made them at the same time as Child was writing them, Dolph Lundgren would have been perfect.

Yeah, but this guy is awful. I don’t remember the first season being this ham-handed, but S2E1, which I just watched, was pretty bad. One hour of nearly continuous eyeroll.

I disagree strongly. He is what I always thought Reacher was,

I have to partially agree with Chefguy. The actor is physically fine as Reacher, but his acting needs a bit of work.

I was responding to your comment about Cruise’s acting ability. You can’t possibly think that this guy is going to win any awards.

Cruise is the better actor… but not for Reacher. might as well cast Billy Barty for Andre the Giant.

Ritchson is a decent actor who fits Reacher perfectly.

Cruise has two expressions. The “Oh, gawd, I’m so constipated” is the one he uses the most.

Hey now, he has a few https://images.app.goo.gl/WzDXojUbmySAijhh7

We started watching Lawmen: Bass Reeves this weekend and are already about to watch E6 tonight. We don’t normally watch more than 2 episodes of anything at one time, but this one we just kept watching. We’re really enjoying it.

We also started watching Lawmen: Bass Reeves, and we’re also enjoying it. I think we’re up to episode 5 now. It’s another Taylor Sheridan show, like Yellowstone and the recent Special Forces: Lioness.

The titles sound like he’s planning to make more movies in the “Lawmen” and “Special Forces” series, 'cause otherwise the names are strange.

Browsing around on YouTube, I found a couple of videos of outtakes from Newhart (the later show where he’s a Vermont innkeeper, not The Bob Newhart Show where he’s a Chicago shrink. Which inspired me to watch the series all over again, for probably the third time.

Worth noting that I always start with Season 3. The first two seasons are prior to the arrival of Michael and Stephanie, who are absolutely essential to the show! Though I believe that both of them show up near the end of Season 2. Also, Larry and his brother Darryl and his other brother Darryl are only introduced at the beginning of Season 3. In the first two seasons, I find the Kirk Devane character played by Steven Kampmann extremely annoying. The series vastly improves when he absconds to Europe in the first episode of Season 3 and the Minuteman Cafe is eventually sold to Larry, Darryl, and Darryl.

One thing I love about it is that Bob Newhart’s mild-mannered stammering is very close to his real-life persona, and for some reason it’s just wonderfully funny, especially when he’s surrounded by a town full of oddballs and eccentrics. A really wonderful, warm, funny series that I associate not so much with its original run but with watching late-night reruns in bed.

You just gave two excellent reasons to stop with the end of season 2. I hated those stupid-ass characters.
