I was surprised to see that S2 of Bosch Legacy had dropped on Prime. We had to rewatch the final ep of S1 to get caught up and will be starting S2 in a few minutes.
How does it compare to the original Bosch series?
I didn’t care for it at first, as I think the actor who plays Maddie is really one dimensional, and this series is supposed to kinda-sorta focus on her becoming a cop. It gets better, however, and the first few eps of S2 are pretty intense.
I’m sticking with The Curse, but having seen the first 4 episode, it isn’t…funny? I mean, it isn’t a pure comedy, but I haven’t laughed at any of the parts that were supposed to be funny.
It’s kind of dull.
Did anyone watch The Rehearsal, the very different show from Nathan Fielder? I’m curious if it was any good. I liked, for the most part, Nathan for You.
I keep hearing The Curse described as “cringe comedy”. I don’t recall laughing but there’s definitely a lot of cringe. Maybe “black dramedy”? It definitely has elements of “traffic accident that you can’t look away from”. That being said, I highly recommend it, especially if one is a fan of Emma Stone (which I am).
It stays dull and unfunny until the last episode, which is one of those two.
I also didn’t like Beef with Ali Wong and Steven Yuen.
Yeah, it was a pretty dismal Emmys for me. I pretty much hate-watched Succession. Did not care much for Beef although I slogged through to the end. I more or less liked The Bear, but it involved way too much shouting and cursing as opposed to actual story progress. And, as mentioned above, no comedy.
In a nutshell. I watched Succession because the wife liked it, but I couldn’t stand the characters and didn’t care about their story lines, except briefly for Greg.
Just finished the latest season of Reacher.
Yeah, we finished Reacher, and it was… fine. Kind of by the numbers by the end. But hey, stuff blew up, Reacher did his Reacher thing, and that’s why we all tune in.
I did not like Succession either, for the same reason as Chefguy. My tolerance for watching shitty people do shitty things is pretty low. I never liked cringe comedy either, and couldn’t get into The Office for that reason. Watching people be humiliated or uncomfortable just isn’t my thing.
We’re loving the OA. Into the second season now.
I just started watching Succession and I like it so far. But my ideal comedy plot is where someone has a plan and then it just keeps falling apart; other people like passing gas or falling on fruit.
Just finished Colin from Accounts. I really enjoyed it. I laughed aloud at a couple parts. I’m looking forward to the next season.
I was surprised to learn that the 2 leads are married in real life.
Is Colin from accounts an energy vampire?
Lol! Sure sounds like like it, doesn’t it?
I’ve never seen Nathan for You. The Rehearsal was … interesting. It started out as one cringy kind of thing and ended up as a much more cringy other kind of thing. It’s really hard to explain. It wasn’t like anything else I’ve ever seen. I was curious enough to watch it all. But I wouldn’t watch anything like that again. One of my friends loved it. Another quit watching after the second episode. You might try the first couple of episodes to see how you react.
I’ve got the final episode of Reacher left. This latest season has not impressed me to be honest. The flashbacks in particular have been pure filler. I remember enjoying the first season more. I think if it was my first experience of the character (I’ve read nearly all the books), then I probably wouldn’t bother returning. Even the first film (despite the absurdity of the casting) was better than this. It’s still better than the second film though. That was really poor!
Yeah, S1 was better.
I liked Bosch at first when it was about hims “solving problems” for the Hollywood elite. But then “it got personal”, and that ruined it for me.
The problem I’m having with it is that S2 keeps referring to some crime that was apparently a big deal in S1. Who the hell can remember back that far? I have no idea who these characters are or why the FBI is looking at Bosch. My wife and I keep looking at each other with that WTF? look.
We have that issue with just about every series. Who can remember what happened in a series that you watched two years ago? We have sometimes gone back and watched the last episode of the previous season in an attempt to refresh our memories. It would be a lot easier on the viewers to do series in which every season is self-contained.
Personally, I don’t find rewatching some episodes of a show that I enjoyed to be a hardship. But sometimes I check episode summaries on Wikipedia instead.
