Finished watching Reacher last night. It’s funny how little the plot advances during each episode. There is just over-the-top action pieces one after the other.
Well, with variation, that was a lot of crime shows. But Castle STUCK with that format. So repetitively, it was a joke. You waited to them arriving at crime scene, and… IT’S HIM. THAT ONE.
I watched every episode of Castle. Kind of. Well, I fell asleep during a number of them. There was a spare 30 minutes which weren’t important really, and I woke up for the end. Sadly, once this format is pointed out to you, it might ruin the show. It literally does this every time. The person who did it is ALWAYS the the first person they meet.
Okay, that’s interesting.
Doing some research, apparently it’s even worse than that! The first suspect is always alibied by Esposito and Ryan!
I still enjoyed it, especially in the early seasons, with the banter. It helps that I like Nathan.
Thanks for the discussion!
I like the star and the format, the characters were likeable too. Found it quite sad that the two leads
didn’t get out and that’s why it ended… I’d watch most things with Fillion, wonder what The Rookie
is like purely because I wondered what he was doing now.
good old crazy family dynamics. series like these really have me appreciating the family i have.
I just finished The Curse from Nathan Fielder and the final episode was extremely bizarre.
What a strange show. I’m not sure I enjoyed it all that much, to be honest.
We have enjoyed The Rookie. Again, mostly due to Nathan. As typical, the first few seasons are about being a rookie, and I wonder how real it is. It has gotten more into drama based on the characters actions over the seasons.
We didn’t even make it through the first episode of The Curse. No laughs or real intrigue; just a lot of cringe.
The Police procedures and slang is pretty right on. Most rookies get through without ever firing their gun except at the range however. Hell, many cops get thru their entire career without a gunfight.
I am not a fan of all the drama. I do like the little humorous bits.
Then read spoilers for the last episode. You’ll go “Huh.”
Same here - I lasted about 7 minutes.
I binged all of Hazbin Hotel on Netflix. I went in expecting an oddball animated show like Owl House. NOPE. It is not for kids. Very adult subject matter and some dark stuff. Gave me a headache. Good songs, though, and I forgot Keith David could sing.
Wikipedia suggests it was made for Amazon Prime. I might check it out.
I find Amazon Prime is pretty bad at recommending stuff other than the same few series over and over again.
Completely agree. So much filler this season. And the final episode was probably the worst one so far, that helicopter fight was ridiculous. I’ll give it one more season and if it is more of the same I am giving up!!
Much better is Boy Swallows Universe, an Australian drama on Netflix about a young lad growing up in a family with, well let’s just say issues, with plenty of gentle humour and no little heart to it. My partner had heard it was good, whereas I hadn’t heard of it full stop. We gave it a go and are several episodes in and enjoying it. The 13 year old at the centre of it is a terrific young actor.
Finished the latest season of Bosch: Legacy. Ended in a cliffhanger again, so I guess they’re planning another season.
Started S8 of Shetland. Well done from the get-go, with the added bonus of Ashley Jensen, who we love.
I’m glad some of it is right. I knew that stats that most police officers don’t fire their gun, possibly ever. I know it’s for the drama. This isn’t our typical show. We like some SciFi/Fantasy elements in them but we like Nathan and he’s fun to watch!
Thanks for the discussin!
I’m hoping that since each True Detective season is a self-contained anthology story, the writers plotted out the entire story arc, including a satisfying ending, beforehand. Hoping…
If you are interested, there is a companion series called Helluva Boss that is available on Youtube. (As is the original pilot of Hazbin Hotel.)
Is this the one that all the Christians are so steamed about? Can’t wait to see it!
It does cover some heavy stuff such as an abusive relationship, so just be prepared.
