I thought they did well with it, hoping for Season 9.

Is Pluto an Astro Boy prequel?
With Netflix's Pluto out on Netflix, many wonder if it has any connection to the classic Astro Boy series?

Just finished S2 of Black Summer. Very intense season, IMO.
I am watching L&O, new series. I just watched the two new detectives arrest a man after he said “I want to speak to my lawyer”. That’s generally a no-no. The first epi os the new series was skewered by Legal Eagle.
I am also watching back episodes of L&O Criminal intent. I noticed that Goren, later started doing the following- decided upon a suspect with very little evidence- then badgered them into a confession.
I liked the ones with Jeff Goldblum better.
To follow up on Gorans weird detective skills. Some sad guy is just dumping bodies not cremating them.
They find out that some of the DNA form those dead dudes is turning up as evidence- but after said dude was dead- so faked evidence.
Goran goes to visit sad guys cousin (why?). Takes an instant suspicion of said cousin, who appears in any ways to be a classic suburban dad. Goran uses cousins hand cleaner, gets it tested, and it comes back similar to the stuff found on a murdered guy in a funeral home. No matter that the goop is sold everywhere, and is as common as Lava soap. Goran decides cousin is now a killer for hire. Ambushes cousins wife in store parking lot and proceeds to show her horrific pictures claiming her husband is a hit man. This is without a shred of evidence, and no probable cause- such an action is unethical and would get a normal cop in front of a Board of Inquiry. This guy is a menace.

Uh, I don’t think saying “I want to speak to my lawyer” is a way to avoid being arrested…
Just finishing Fool Me Once on Hulu. Based on a Harlen Coben book. It’s a whodunnit about a former military pilot whose husband and sister have both been murdered. Decently entertaining and some great acting from the secondary parts, but the hero is a little grating. Didn’t care for the ending but maybe you will.
I just finished this one today. It really did not stick the landing IMO. The finale kinda comes out of nowhere…
I guess I shoulda taken the title literally, since I was also disappointed by the finale of the one other Harlen Coben show I had seen, Safe. Won’t be returning for a third one.

They werent planning on arresting him until he said that. They wanted to question him.
Last weekend I binged the anime series Pluto on Netflix. It was great. Eight 1 hour episodes with beautiful animation and an engrossing story. I am ashamed to admit how long it took me to realize the story is Astro Boy. A retelling, with a twist or two, of the original Astro Boy series.
Did they credit that? or was it plagiarized?
Heavenly Delusion - Hulu
Short show of 13 half-hour episodes. Honestly, it started strong and then kind of meandered and apparently, it just kind of ended teasing a second season I’m not even sure it is going to get. It was only OK.
I just finished the first season of "Blue Lights’ on Britbox. I’m a sucker for police procedurals and this is one of the better ones I’ve seen. It’s more of an ensemble cast instead of focused on one or two detectives and it focuses a lot on training/rookie cops in Belfast. One of the best parts of watching non-American cop shows is the differences in things like Miranda rights/search & seizure and gun culture. This show definitely made me scratch my head on the stop and search rules especially and there was a lot more gun action than most UK/British shows. I also enjoyed one of the cop/trainee partnerships in particular, the veteran cop played by Richard Dormer (from Game of Thrones). Highly recommended!
To be honest, I don’t know. The names of the main characters are the same, including the robots. Except ‘Astro Boy’ is called Atom or Adam in the show. And he isn’t the main character, for most of the show Gesicht is the focus. Of course Pluto is also important, however he isn’t the main focus.
The creator of the original Astro Boy series (1963), Osamu Tezuka, is credited as a creator of the Pluto show on Netflix. Mr. Tezuka passed away in 1989.

Atom is the original character name in Japan.
I never saw more than bits and pieces of the original series. So it’s been interesting to learn a bit more about it. If anything about it interests you, than I can not recommend Pluto enough.

Try reading the introduction (visible in the Kindle preview) of the first volume of Dark Horse’s 23 volume translation of the original manga. (You may or may not want to take steps beyond that.)
I’ve been watching Servant without reading any spoilers or plot descriptions (even this Wiki link ) and it has been “what the eff am I effing watching?” all through season 1.
Binging TV shows makes it much easier for them to fall below your mental radar than week-by-week watches. I binged season 1 and 2 of Servant in October of 2021 (as shown by my post). Then it totally slipped my mind until today, 2.5 years later when I casually start reading a blog posting on if there is room for a season 5 after recent end of season 4 of a series with a name that I didn’t immediately recognize…
So, yeah, just because two complete new seasons slipped past before I noticed, don’t let that make you think Servant isn’t worth a watch. I’ll be catching up on it.

I suspect that shorter TV seasons are at least as important a factor in ease of forgetting.
Thank you for that.
New series, Death and Other Details, starring Mandy Potemkin. I watched the first two episodes (all that has been released) think of it a little as a TV series attempt on Knives Out/Glass Onion with just a touch of Wes Anderson styling.
You had me until the last line. I can’t watch Wes Anderson’s films. Their brand of comedy/drama just does not work for me. I have a similar issue with Paul Thomas Anderson’s films.
I’m with Scoobysnax on Wes Anderson films-- I find them entirely too precious to the point of unwatchability. I could not get through all of Asteroid City, and I usually endure though everything I start watching. But Darren_Garrison is right that it’s just a touch of Wes Anderson. It’s like adding a little bit of an overpowering spice to a dish, like nutmeg in a bechamel sauce. A pinch works fine. But you can easily add too much if you’re not careful.
In DaOD, the ‘Wes Anderson styling’ is more just a heightened color palette and a slightly stylized sense of reality. Just a tiny pinch of nutmeg. If you liked ‘Knives Out’ you should like this.
