Was looking forward to Davey and Jonesie’s Locker based on the trailer. Binged it today. It took a couple of episodes for me to adjust to the style of it, but it ended up IMO pretty awesome. It is a bit of a combination of Rick and Morty and Bill and Ted.

Not to mention the High Sparrow. At least this time Benioff & Weiss have a fully written story to adapt.

We’re just about finished with Season 1 of The Flight Attendant.

I’m not sure that it will linger in my memory for long after we finish watching but, in general, I’d say that it was pretty good.

The reviews on Season 2 say that it loses its way and becomes, primarily, a show about the struggle with alcoholism (and not too entertaining). We’ll need to decide whether to continue on or leave well enough alone.

I suggested this ( 3 body problem) to Mrs Mollusc and she was a bit skeptical. I was a little concerned knowing it was the same showrunners as GoT and we both gave up on that due to the relentless grimness and the first episode précis described how the father died and there is plenty of grimness in the Cultural Revolution that could be shown. Anyway we watched episode one and are going to carry on , intriguing and certainly no Joffrey/Ramsey levels of sadism.

I also started on “ The Gentleman” on Netflix and watched the first couple of episodes , definitely fun , and what’s not to like with Vinnie Jones as a grumpy groundskeeper.

I need to get through last season of For all mankind before the Apple subscription runs out next week ,and we will be just in time to also finish the last episode of “The New Look”. I have no idea how historically accurate it is but Christian Dior seems to be almost saint like and Coco Chanel, well not so much.

Will leave Manhunt ( the JohnWilkes Booth series) until our next re subscribe to AppleTv

The Devil’s Hour. A twisty, British mindfuck featuring the excellent Peter Capaldi. Boiled down to its basic premise its another “cops need information from imprisoned psychopath to solve the crime” but it is so much more than that. Highly recommend.

That sounds exactly like my type of show! Putting that on my list to watch right away!

I thought season 2 was great! It’s slightly different because of how her alcoholism manifests, but I found it very entertaining.

I’m doing a second watch of the excellent Aussie series Mr. Inbetween on Hulu. Hard to describe the genre. It’s funny and violent and deals with the day-to-day life of a low-level enforcer. Starring Scott Ryan as Ray Shoesmith; also features Damon Herriman as his boss, who was so great as the hapless Dewey Crowe in “Justified”.

Second the shout out for Vinnie Jones. A Guy Ritchie movie just isn’t complete without his wry deliveries.

I watched Arnold a 3 episode mini series on Arnold Schwartzenegger. I thought it was pretty good. Showed his childhood which included abuse from his parents, his meteoric rise in bodybuilding, his shift to being an action hero, and on to his political career.

I can’t say whether it glossed over his misbehavior over the years. He cheated on his wife, he mistreated women in the 70s-80s, both were mentioned, but overall I think the picture of him was positive despite these actions.

I’ve been binging Harley Quinn the past couple days. It’s funny. It’s a little too bloody for my taste in super hero stories but it’s a hilarious take on various DC characters. Alan Tudyk as both the Joker and a hacky Clayface is brilliant.

Crazy, deranged and a lot of fun.

I just watched NCIS Hawaii,

Okay, if you are on protection detail, you dont argue politics with the person you are protecting. Next, that Georgian (nation not the state) terrorist- you dont need laws violated, she’d be deported or taken into custody as a know terrorist, and how she got into the nation despite passport controls and Do Not Fly list is a mystery. Then- small pet peeve- Lucy filled up her water bottle from a pitcher from the fridge- but then put it back in without refilling the pitcher!!!

I am liking this show less and less.

I finished watching the Korean fantasy soap opera Alchemy of Souls. I underestimated how long it would take because the episodes are ~80 minutes rather than the 44 or 60 minutes that I’m used to. There were also more uses of the hilarious “record scratch” sound effect than I was expecting.

The second season of 10 episodes was less interesting because the dynamic between the romantic leads was kind of blah compared to the first 20 episodes where there was more sparring back and forth.

I think I’ve had enough Korean dramas for a while; my wife and I are watching 3 Body Problem now and we’re enjoying it.

Watched the first episode of Chicken Nugget tonight.

We just watched all six episodes of this show, and have added at least two more train trips to our bucket list. (We’re crossing western Canada on the Rocky Mountaineer this summer, booked before we watched the show.)

It’s apparently available on several streaming services.

We finished the first two seasons of Tokyo Vice, and it remained very good. However, the plot lines were left hanging and season 3 hasn’t been greenlit yet.

Finishing up season 10 of The Blacklist. I’d say it’s one of their better seasons. They mostly scrapped the ‘black lister of the week’ for interesting puzzle stories.

FINALLY! We finished all 26 seasons of Silent Witness. A real slog at times, lemme tell ya. We’ve now started the Shogun remake. Follows the book very well so far, and I like that it focuses on the Japanese intrigue rather than on the anjin.

I watched the first episode of Renegade Nell on Disney+. It’s a period-set tale about a headstrong young woman who returns from a fateful naval journey to her home town, only to see it terrorised by the local Lord’s dickhead son, so she kicks his butt aided by a mysterious magical ability.

Really good! I’m definitely going to enjoy this.

Started watching The Cleaning Lady about a Cambodian-Filipino doctor who is in the US illegally (after her visa expired) trying to get a specialist bone marrow treatment for her young son. She gets caught up with an organized crime family. Two episodes in and it’s really quite gripping.

Also watched: The Gentlemen, Renegade Nell, and a bunch of unremarkable anime (Solo Levelling remaining my favorite of the lot, which just finished S1).
