I recently discovered that they released a few more seasons of What We Do in the Shadows and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I can’t recall any other show that made me laugh out loud as much as this one. Each episode is better than the last.
On a related note, I also found out they made Wellington Paranormal. I remember hearing about them possibly making it, but didn’t know they did. I’m also enjoying that series as well.
A fun show. Racist Zombie Cops is a such a fun concept in one of the episodes. The cops are zombies, but still target chief because he is of Maori-descent. “You racist…zombie…officers!”
I just finished Bodkin. It was entertaining, and as annoying as some of the characters are, you stick with it just to see how it all plays out. It reminded me a bit of Deadloch in that it starts out with a lot more comedy mixed with totally random stuff. But then it morphs into much more of a detective story, and the comedy takes a back seat.
I’ve given up on Star Trek: Discovery. I am a huge Trekkie and have seen almost all the other shows all the way through (The Animated Series being the exception, which is really bad), but I stopped watching halfway through season 4 and had no interest in season 5 when it aired.
I had issues with the show from the very beginning, and gave up on it for a while after the first season since it was so bad, but it improved somewhat over time. It still had it’s issues though and with the reveal of the cause of The Burn (which was just straight up idiotic) at the end of season 3, I just lost any remaining interest I had and couldn’t finish the 4th season.
But currently I’m halfway through Fallout which has been really good! I’m a long time fan of the series and they got the show to be very accurate to the games.
It really was. The cause I thought they were going for (that Michael had caused it accidentally by sending her suit back into the time wormhole at the beginning of the first episode of the season) would have been far more interesting. But no - we got Psychic Space Baby. So dumb.
Masterpiece by PBS has three seasons of Guilt. Loved the first two seasons and am currently binging the third and final season. Two Scottish brothers and their experiences with crime. Recommend highly.
I some of the first season of Will Trent and I think the show was hinting at deep dark secrets in his background, including the possibility that he was functionally illiterate. Was that ever established?
I believe they mentioned he’s dyslexic, which “explains” his observational skills due to studying to overcome it. It’s been awhile, so I may well be wrong
Which is probably for the best, since it will be a long time before we get an actual Fallout 5. Bethesda has to finish Elder Scrolls 6 first, which is another franchise that could also make a great show.
Yeah, and how did he pass the many written exams , and get thru training-which requires a lot of reading? How does he read the law statutes, and the GBIs regs? No one could be that dyslexic and be a police officer.
watching Yellowstone here and there …reminds me of those epic frontier-building novels that used to be written but this seems to be written by someone who wanted to make a higher-class sons of Anachary…
And I wonder how bad kevin cotners throat hurt because of that voice after every episode …
I watched the first epi of 1923- yellowstone. It started with the Rancher finding some shepherds grazing their sheep. He then tortures and murders them. I guess in order to protect that ranch, anything is a go.
Battlestar Galactica (21st century revival/reboot).
I managed to make it through the back door pilot of a miniseries, and I’ve gotta say… I’m not impressed. I mean, it’s like, the world (actually, what, a dozen worlds? a whole massive interstellar civilization?) just ended, but the characters seem to give it all the weight of their apartment complex burning down and having to find a new place to live.
On top of that, there was no suspense (too many situations where the show clearly wanted me to believe someone was dead, but they obviously weren’t) and if I have to be honest I think what little novelty there may have been to this series circa 2003 has been surpassed a thousand fold by the more recent The Expanse.
Did anyone have a similar reaction, but then stick around for the main series, and find things got better?
Oh, 100% for sure. The mini-series is not the best stuff at all. I would recommend watching the first season. Even the very first proper episode, called “33”, is terrific.
I’m currently watching BSG as well, for the second time. I missed the first showing (on NBC?) but caught most episodes on SyFy a few years ago. At that time I didn’t know there was a starting miniseries, so I started with “33”. That hooked me from the start, even though I was quite confused about the unseen sexy lady at first. There should be a law that you have to watch shows in order. Just don’t ask me if seeing Terminator 2 before seeing Terminator was confusing (it was).
I enjoy the stories and action, but I’d love to slap Baltar, or at least warn everyone what a rat he is. Like having had no cell phones makes lots of old movies and TV shows seem frustrating now, Baltar (and Colonel Tigh too) are there just to thwart common sense. But I’ll keep watching regardless.
