I also only recently started watching 6FO. Watched the first couple of seasons but there started being longer and longer times between me being in the mood to watch another one (as in several weeks between episodes). I finally dumped the series entirely after 3x05, long after having reached the eight deadly words.
It was one of those series that was best watched as it came out. A week between eps and a pause between seasons seemed to work pretty well. I always looked forward to it, especially the cold opening scenes. And the series finale was actually really good compared to those of a large number of other series.
I’m in S2 of “Invasion” and it’s getting pretty ridiculous. I may have to cut it off.
Finally finished all six seasons of What We Do In The Shadows and while the last season was definitely showing signs of shark jumpage I still generally enjoyed it to the end.
Have started on Kaos. At last that Greek mythology phase I went through in my teens is paying off. Still have my dog-eared Edith Hamilton paperback too.
We watched this recently and took it all the way to a very interesting conclusion. It has its ups and downs and some of the characters begin to grate on you after a while. Still, we considered it a worthwhile watch.
It’s worth it to keep watching just for the last episode.
She’s a legitimate snack.
I came here to plug KAOS! Great series! A second season would have been nice, but it wraps up satisfactorily.
Finished Zero Day last night. A decent enough mini-series, and De Niro does a solid job. I gets a bit preachy, politically, and as always I can really do without the throbbing background “music” that is meant to tell you that things are tense.
I’m really liking Average Joe, which only has three more eps to finish. Excellent acting, even if the plot is fairly predictable.
I’m watching a decade-old mediocre series called The Last Ship and I’ve reached the part where a cabal (led by Law and Order’s Elizabeth Rohm) has decided to end democracy, impose martial law and imprison any dissidents.
Not good tv but this part hits a little close to home.
Starting ep 5 of Paradise - fun enough. Started out strong and less so at this point.
Seems to be a current theme though of shows based on the powerful building underground societies with secrets. Silo, Fallout, this … Did a whole bunch of writers rewatch the end of Doctor Strangelove and want to give it their what next riff variation?
Just finishing up Mo, a two-season series starring stand-up comic Mo Amer and based, with a touch of comedic and dramatic license, on his experiences as a Palestinian refugee living in the US. It’s a mix of cheeseball comedy, heartbreak, and nice, touching moments. His brother (in the show, not IRL) is autistic, which adds to all of those elements. Very enjoyable, would recommend.
Trailer here:
The Pitt started out great. But we just watched the 11am episode and it’s getting tiring.
There’s just to much repetition and taking forever to resolve things. In show it’s a single long shift but to viewers like us it’s starting to feel like a marathon.
E.g., there’s the story of the kid who is brain dead and the parents are stalling things. C’mon, the ER needs the bed, move it along. I’m tired of that and many other subplots. Wrap it the bleep up.
The conflicts between various docs has gotten stale. Etc. It’s going to be a struggle just to finish the season.
Well, they caught the rat…
I feel exactly the opposite, having watched through to the current episode (3pm). The first episodes kind of set the stage. Then things pick up. It’s supposed to be in real time, so the plotline that you noted should take longer, considering.
I can hardly wait for each new episode now, especially after last week’s.
Also, I just saw that Taylor Dearden, who plays one of the new doctors, is the daughter of Bryan Cranston.
That’s one of the most interesting characters on the show. The Pitt is really good at exploring the life experiences that make the doctors well - or not so well - suited for their chosen profession.
Yes, and as the day progresses, our opinions of the doctors change as we see them develop.
Well, Average Joe had an unsuspected ending. I can’t tell if they were setting up for another season, or if that’s it. It sorta works either way, I guess. Upon search, I see that there will be an S2, so mystery solved.
We started Black Doves, starring Keira Knightly, Tracey Ullman and Sarah Lancashire (Happy Valley and Julia). Pretty good so far. It’s about an organization that sells information to the highest bidder. Lots of action. And Knightly is a good actor, once I get past the teeth.
In the story, it’s only been a few hours since they learned that their son is brain dead. Not unreasonable that it takes a while to accept that.
I’ve been watching old NCIS episodes, mostly to fall asleep to. I hate the character of Gibbs. If he slapped me upside my head even once I’d file a complaint and he does it constantly. The misogyny and sexism is so gross.
I don’t know if I’d have been as bothered by it if I’d watched it when it was new, but I don’t like it at all now.
It does work to put me to sleep fairly quickly though.
Just watched ep1 last night. You ain’t kidding about the hard left turn at the end of ep1. My wife had heard a little about the show, so she had it spoiled for her, but I went in knowing nothing about it. When the news media asked President Marsden about vague rumors of ‘events in Colorado’ midway through ep1, my wife was asking me “whaddaya think’s happening in Colorado-- hmm? What’s your theory?” I guessed a militia about to start a civil war? Aliens? I guessed wrong.
