The Gang Buys a Boat was funny as well, just saw it last night.

Because of the implication.

It is at this point we can say almost for sure…Dennis is the worst of the group. I mean…he’s horrible.

Ah yes, that was on my list but forgot to add it.

“The implication” is a genuine comedy moment burned in my mind like a classic Python sketch.

Dennis is consistently the worst, but Dee’s cruelty burns bright when she goes dark, and can be the worst (and not just a “drunk punchy whore” or a bird).

It’s all a bullying hierarchy, with Frank on top who bullies Dennis and Dee, Dennis bullies the rest, and the rest bully each other.

And let’s not forget Uncle Jack. He might be the goofy lawyer with enormous hands, but he also molested Charlie as a kid and continues to try and push his way back into Charlie’s life.

Just finished Good American Family. I really liked it.

Apparently, it’s been a while since I’ve watched Psych. Throughout the entire first episode he was in, I had no idea that was Dule Hill. And that lawyer at the end, I would’ve sworn that was Cuddy from House (Lisa Edelstein), turns out it was Alan’s ex wife from Two and A Half Men.

Anybody watched / is watching The Eternaut? I loved it but I would like less biased feedback

I just finished it the other day. I wouldn’t say I loved it, but it was a reasonably well done apocalypse type show. Even with some episodes being an hour long or longer, I didn’t feel like they were dragging things out. There’s supposed to be a second season coming, and I’ll probably give it a look when it arrives.

I did end up Googling the Falklands War, though, since it played a big part in the character’s backstories. Apparently this war has had a pretty big cultural impact in Argentina, like Vietnam had on the US.

I think one of the main attractions of the show, for me, was that it happens here, it hits far more viscerally when the scenes of destruction are in General Paz avenue instead of say, Brooklyn.
That could explain the difference in our evaluations of it .

It’s an apt comparison, though one of my few pet peeves about this adaptation is that they made a character good with firearms because he’s a veteran of Malvinas, that works for Vietnam, but the south Atlantic conflict lasted about 3 months, that’s not enough for a conscript soldier to become an expert marksman.

(In the original 1957 comic the character was not a veteran, the war still being 25 years in the future)

I can understand that. I used to watch a show set in Ottawa, and all the exterior shots were places I knew.

We watched The Four Seasons over the weekend. Pretty decent romcom/drama with an excellent cast. Never saw the original movie so we didn’t know the twist at the end, which swung things a bit too far into melodrama territory for my tastes. And I absolutely hated Nick and Anne’s daughter.

Still, well-written, well-acted, and worth watching.

When the movie was new, there was a quote from an old guy “I was AT Dunkirk, and it was quieter than this movie!”

Couldn’t get into it, I’m afraid. There was another foreign series that was subtitled. The opening scenes ruined it for me, as it had an American woman going into the American embassy in whatever country this took place in. The Marine sergeant talking to her had a beard and moustache. No Marine would EVER have facial hair like that, no matter where they were stationed. If they got that wrong, then the rest of it was likely a mess as well.

That was the other series right? There are no scenes like that in The Eternaut.

Yup. And there was a third series that was supposed to be a comedy. The guy who starred in it (as himself) seemed obsessed with his anus. In the very first ep he graphically shits his pants. Nope.

Just started A Spy Among Friends (2023). The first 2 episodes are good. I’m in so far.
