Here is an article about season 4 of The Bear. It confirms my fears about the (lack of) direction of the show. Extremely mild on the spoilers, it doesn’t really discuss the plot at all.
Squid Game Season 3 (really the second half of Season 2) has dropped. 4 episodes in and still digging it despite the usual plot holes.
Always liked the Alone series
Most episodes available on Youtube. Since my 50" TV is dying - making do with the laptop
I love Tasmania too and want to get back again.
There ARE thylacines out there…
Does anybody in thread have thoughts on the Apple TV+ shows Dark Matter and Constellation? Both Mystery Boxy scifi shows about parallel dimensions. Have watched 1 episode of each and weighing which to keep on watching, if any.
Dark Matter seems to be more popular. Renewed for 2nd season. Don’t care for main character or actor who play him. Jennifer Connelly and Jimmi Simpson are always worth a watch. The twist in ep 1 was very easy to guess.
Constellation has been cancelled after 1 season. Naomi Rapace in main role as an astronaut and Jonathan Banks as her shadowy mission head, both fine. Scenes on the ISS suddenly shift to a ruined house in northern Sweden. All very confusing, but so far it’s an interesting confusion.
We finished E5 of Bodkin last night and it seemed to just fall apart. Too many cutesy flashback scenes and plot muddying.
I watched the entirety of Constellation. I will note that the confusion gets ironed out quite a bit in the subsequent episodes. However, it may not be worth watching the rest of the show for you; it’s already been cancelled, and I can divulge that it ends on a pretty serious cliffhanger.
I was sorely disappointed that Constellation was cancelled; I really enjoyed it.
Makes sense to me. One of my favorite teachers in high school got stuck with the vice principal job the last two years I was there, and he hated it.
I liked it. The whole alternate dimensions thing gets really involved by the middle of the season.
Per usual, there is an exception to everything. My father taught elementary school for 20+ years before moving up to middle-school principal. He found the job to be both frustrating and rewarding, and the teachers that worked for him sang his praises. He definitely did not lower himself when he moved into administration.
Back on topic,
I just watched E1 and thus far I’m intrigued. Long way to go, obviously.
Nah, thought that does happen sometimes. It’s a higher paying job so people do make that move who aren’t burned out. Besides, some people want to be principal and teaching is a step towards that.
At the high school from which I graduated there was a classmate who later became a Phys Ed teacher at the same school. Eventually she was named Principal. My first thought was that if they made a P.E. teacher the Principal, nobody else must have wanted that job!
We got about halfway through E6 and gave up.
Thanks for the input, I think I will watch it. I had read of the cancellation. 10 ok episodes and no ending beats 40 ok but increasingly wheelspinning episodes and a weak ending as far as I’m concerned.
Smoke on Apple TV
Not immediately engaged - very Amurican, bit soapy but will give it the first episode.
Reprieved for now
Smoke review – no TV show has ever been worth sticking with more
Taron Egerton and Jurnee Smollett hit every ball out of the park in this smart, mesmerising crime drama about arson investigators. It’s hugely entertaining – if you can make it through the shaky start

Smoke on Apple TV
I was really hoping it’d be good, but reviews have been mixed. I’ll certainly give it a try because Taron Egerton is fantastic.
Here’s a quick treat featuring him: (tip: turn on the closed captioning)
I would have watched the third episode if it was out. Will wait for the show to complete to return,.
Still have the The Mentalist as fall back…many seasons to come…lead is very personable and cast gels.

What’s thee need that for? Twas merely God’s own accent, nary a bother!
Inna and I are enjoying Deadwood, as much for the obvious anachronisms as for the story/characters. Highly recommended.
A lot of great characters in there, especially Calamity Jane. “Cocksucker!”
That’s one of the anachronisms, lol.
