Mystery solved. Thanks!

Is that her mother or her grandmother we meet in the first episode?

Cecil and Dedre’s arc may be the best parts of the show. I felt the writers walked a careful line to flesh out those two without it being some kind of sci-fi Nazi apologism.

Grandmother, according to the Wiki cast list.

Started watching Ugliest Houses In America on Hulu. Second season the houses are less ugly than weird, but I get that it’s a fine line.

Also The Art Detectives. Not the catchiest title, but so far good mysteries and thankfully no indication of budding romance between the two main characters.

Oh, for cripe’s sake. This episode of “Ballard” had the “you’ve got 72 hours to solve this crime or else” meme. They even had a giant clock counting down the time. How this series is so highly rated on Rotten Tomatoes is truly a mystery.

Finally finished the final episode of The Residence. I do think it could have used a bit of tightening up but in general I thought it was very enjoyable. I was curious about the dedication to Andre Braugher at the end. That’s when I found out he had been A.B. Wynter and had filmed half his scenes when he died. Instead of trying to fit in the already shot footage they decided to replace him with Giancarlo Esposito.

We just finished Get Shorty last night. Thanks to @BlankSlate, I was prepared for it to end, and I think it wound up okay, with only a few loose ends. But for the most part, I got closure. And it was such a good ride! I think we enjoyed it more than Breaking Bad.

I watched the last 3 episodes of Ballard last night. Say what you will about the shortcomings or the campiness of this series, those last 3 episodes rocked! Even though I’ve read all the books and thought I knew what was coming, I was totally shocked when the serial killer was revealed.

Looking forward to Season 2!

My husband and I are in the process of watching Ballard. I think we have 2 episodes left. We really like it. I have my suspicion who the killer is.

A couple:

Sandman - Shame this is only first half of season 2. One of the best shows on and I love it.

Agents of Mystery - a very fun Korean(with English audio) show where real celebrities, unknown to me, play through very expensive and elaborate Escape Room type scenarios. Only 6 episodes(3 per scenario) and a LOT of fun.

Not for the faint of heart or uneasy tummy

Was interesting in particular as I’ll be going into a much diluted form or one of the procedures.
Was good to “see inside”.

good cast

Nice after long last to have easy smooth internet throughout the house. :sparkler: WiFi 6 and no out of pocket cost.
Partner finally convinced our provider to make good on a faulty modem.

I came in to mention Untamed. We watched the first ep last night. Yes, good cast, interesting characters (if a bit soapy with their baggage), decent murder mystery shaping up, and gorgeous scenery.

For some reason I have a hankering to watch The Windsors again, a hilarious parody of the royal family, particularly then-Prince Charles, Camilla, and my favourites among the minor characters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie portrayed as a pair of British-equivalent valley girls. I missed a few episodes the first time I watched it so gonna watch the whole thing again. I loved the episode where a character that is supposed to be Justin Trudeau shows up and the pair of British valley girls are all over him!

Charles is portrayed as a clueless idealist and Camilla as a plotting shrew. There was another season planned but I think the ascension of Charles to the throne pretty much nixed it, though I think Covid was also a factor.

Yay!! New season of Great British Sewing Bee!!! Don’t bother me now, my show’s on.

I’m already halfway through the second season (there are only 6 episodes per season and a total of 3 seasons) and it’s thoroughly enjoyable, especially since I’d forgotten some of the funniest scenes. The parody is merciless and some of it is crude and bawdy, but it’s all in fun.

There’s a great scene where Prince Harry enters a room to introduce Meghan Markle to Charles and Camilla for the first time. Charles looks at Markle, points to a row of shoes lined up by the wall, and says “they’re over there, just a light buffing”. No, Harry says, she’s not here to shine your shoes, this is my girlfriend!

“Quite, quite”, says Charles, trying quickly to recover, “it’s just that the woman who shines my shoes is also … a woman”. Unfortunately for Charles, at that very moment the black shoeshine girl enters. “NOT NOW!” Charles bellows at her, as she quickly retreats.

After they leave, Harry sneaks back to listen at the door to try to find out what Charles thought of Markle. By this time Charles and Camilla are on to talking about a lunch he’s supposed to attend which he absolutely refuses to do. “I can’t stand that woman”, he says about one of the guests, “I despise the idea of sitting at the same table with her”. “Blimey”, says Harry to himself, “I’m going to have to abdicate, just like George vee-one-one-one”.

There a running gag around Charles’s refusal to use any pesticides or anything not 100% organic in his garden. When there is a greenfly (aphid) infestation his solution is to introduce lizards into the garden. When that turns into a lizard infestation, he brings in snakes to control the lizards. When the garden gets infested with snakes, he brings in mongooses to control the snakes. When that gets out of control, he brings in wolves, which start attacking the gardeners. The last I heard he had brought in bears to control the wolves.

There are also many fine scenes where Beatrice and Eugenie keep trying to find work and are completely useless at anything they try. They are also somehow under the impression that the workday runs from noon to three, and there are two workdays per week. When one of them is hired for an office job, she asks about vacation time and is told 30 days per year. “There must be a nought missing – you mean 300 days per year”. “That would be ten months per year of vacation”, the manager says. “Right”, she replies.

And so it goes. Absolutely no one is spared. The lampooning would normally be considered to be very unfair and even cruel, but one figures that with the respect and privilege they are accorded, the royal family is quite capable of looking after themselves.

IIRC, the Queen is. I don’t remember her ever appearing, or anything uncomplimentary said or shown about her. Am I misremembering?

You’re correct. Not a word is said about the Queen. I suspect that this was not only out of respect for the monarchy as an institution, but because the Queen herself was such an exemplary monarch.

That was my assumption, too, and I greatly respected the show’s producers for it.
