Series you've recently watched, are now watching or have given up on

I wanted to watch recent episodes of It’s Always Sunny, partly for the crossover episode and for the parody of The Bear. But Hulu seems to have only S1E1 through S1E7. Anyone know why?

They all show up for me. Check their website and see if they show up there. Also, sometimes I run into a glitch when I’m using Hulu on a TV where it looks like there’s only a handful of episodes from the first season, but if you go to them and then scroll up (while on the ‘seasons’ side) you’ll find the rest.

Ah, think you are not realizing that on the left(on mine), you have to push up, not down to get to the further seasons.

You have to remember that I may be an idiot.

It’s happened to me!

Multiple times now, due to the way Netflix orders their episodes, I’ve started a new show by watching the last episode of the first season. And, to make it worse, not knowing anything about the show, I have no reason to know that I just watched some season long arcs wrap up (or a season ending cliff hanger) and keep going forward, right into the next season.

In fact, in the last few months, I’ve done that with both Abbot Elementary and Archer.

Watched half of The Hunting Wives, a Netflix series set in East Texas. It’s perfectly fine for some trashy summer viewing. Also pretty racy; Malin Akerman is one of the two female leads and man, that woman is not shy about showing her body.

The series is set in Texas, but was apparently filmed in North Carolina. One of the ways I could tell this was a depiction of a Whataburger restaurant. They clearly didn’t have a real Whataburger out that way, so they found some drive-in restaurant in the filming area and added a sign calling it a Whataburger. The place looks NOTHING like a real Whataburger! It’s so off base that most Texans would probably find it comical. Interestingly, they had an actress playing an employee and she was dressed in a legit Whataburger crew uniform. I wonder if Whataburger paid for spon con for their inclusion; if so, they should demand some of the money back.

Another thing that made me laugh: the town that the series is set in, Maple Brook, is apparently supposed to be in East Texas and is a small, one-horse kind of town. One of the characters mentions the local high school team playing Southlake Carroll. Carroll High School in Southlake is located smack in the middle of Dallas/Fort Worth, a heck of a ways away from what is typically considered East Texas. Not to mention that they are a large 6A classified school for sports and extracurricular activities and would likely never be playing this podunk high school.

I’ll co-sign this, though we kinda trickled off watching it after a heavy episode.

My son is support level 2 autistic and this guy seems level 2 to me, though he’s trying to live with level one supports and isn’t quite getting there. Which is why it has versimilitude to me. He reminds me of my son as well, brilliant, upbeat, empathetic, quite far afield from the stoic and remote stereotype. I love that they are showing the way he expresses care is different, but just as valid.

They could have gone with “quirky genius doctor” but instead they are depicting real limitations. And after so many seasons of House it’s refreshing to watch a brilliant doctor who actually gives a shit about other people.

My understanding is that it’s based on a Korean drama, not a Japanese one.

Finished Untamed last night. Series went downhill quickly after Episode 2. Wouldn’t recommend.

We finished Black Bird. Holy crap, what a creepy story plucked from real life. They walk among us, folks. Never forget that.

By episode 2, it’s easy to figure out who the ultimate bad guy is.

Bummer. I just finished Episode 2. Maybe I’ll just skip to the end :upside_down_face:

watched outrageous last night. the mitford family was quite the crew.

I love Lincoln Lawyer but have never seen or read Bosch. Can you tell me how Mickey Haller fits into the Bosch universe? No spoilers I hope…

They are half brothers. They share the same father. Mickey is the legitimate son, Bosch is the bastard.

And there are cross appearances in the novels.

Bill Nelson deserves a cut of the proceeds thanks to that title.

I am bailing on the 2nd half of Sandman S2. They apparently make it very explicit that Morpheus will die and Daniel will succeed him, with none of the subtle foreshadowing in the comic. I’ll end on E6’s high note, where Destruction and Orpheus are finally found.

Whaaaaaaat???

(I have only ever seen the TV stuff (and the LL film), not read any novels)

If you like to read, Michael Connelly is one of today’s best authors, IMO. And I would recommend reading the Bosch novels in order, as well as the Lincoln Lawyer series.

The novels are better than the TV stuff.

There’s a new series out that takes place on Catalina Island. I’m reading book one, called “Nightshade”. Connelly is still on his game with excellent character development.
