Watched the 7th and last epi of Task. Great action for most of the episode, then a rather slow and cheesy ending, but it did (mostly) wrap up all the loose ends.
I highly recommend this series.

I totally missed it on the first search. Thanks for letting me know!
NCIS has gone way way downhill, these first two episodes of the new season were really bad.
We watched the very first episode of Sherriff Country. Look, writers. the old canard “and this time- - it’s personal” is the last refuge of writers with a bad case of writers block. S1E1 is NOT tha time to start with that. It was really, really bad. Oh, and no technical expert for the show or they are a moron- you do not need probable cause to search someone of probation for drugs. And an “ex-con” cant get a legal marijuana license in CA state- generally.
Lazarus on Prime. Based on the Harlan Coben book. A psychiatrist starts seeing his dead father and other dead people and tries to find the murderer. It’s okay, although I’m already getting a bit bored with it.
I have now watched it to the end. If any of you who like charming, cosy shows are looking for something new, I highly recommend this one. It’s a delight. The two main characters are like two halves of my own personality, which probably helps its appeal.
Watched the first two episodes of Talamasca: the Secret Order. I like it. Played as a spy drama so far. Probably only appealing if you are already familiar with the AnneRiceiverse
I’ve now watched all available episodes of this. Of the “adult giving a voiceover to their childhood adventures” shows, I’d say it is the most similar to The Goldbergs. Pretty good, but a bit heavy on the Very Special Episode episodes.
Watched the first episode of It: Welcome to Derry. A mix of the familiar and Holy fucking crap!.

When I think of a sitcom ‘Very Special Episode’ I think of an episode that does a 180 into becoming serious as a heart attack. Stuff suddenly gets real. A main character having a heart attack might even be the plot point. It’s usually involving something like a serious health scare, the death of a main character, drug abuse by a character, or the infamous 2-part Diff’rent Strokes Very Special Episode ‘The Bicycle Man’.
‘Son of a Critch’ had a few relatively minor family crises, and some lesson learning going on, but I don’t recall any episodes that got serious or dark enough to be Very Special. I agree that it’s similar to a Canadian ‘Goldbergs’.
I was thinking more of stories that are Aesops with life lessons. You don’t just get a slice-of-life story, you get an episode around a life-lesson that is explicitly voice-overed at the end. And I’m sure we’ll get more of those in season 5 as Malcom McD descends into dementia. (But not a stroke in his right parietal lobe, as his clock test would indicate in the real world.) (That spoiler relates to the end of season four.)
After reading all the good review for The Chair Company I decided to give it a try. It was really not for me and I only lasted about 15 minutes. As someone who gets second hand embarrassment from awkward shows/movies, I was twitching before the end of the family celebration in the restaurant.

As I mentioned in the dedicated thread, I thought the first episode wasn’t that great but the second one was better. After that the third episode came out and I thought it was back to not that great.
I’m sure we’ll get more of those in season 5
Huh, I had assumed the show was wrapped up at the end of S.4, since it had a series-ending feel to it. But I googled and sure enough, there will be a S.5. Not looking forward to the probable plot events concerning your spoiler, since that would push things into 80s sitcom-style Very Special Episode territory.
We’ve been watching Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars on Apple while waiting for the last ep of Slow Horses to drop. If you like cooking shows, this one is pretty good. It’s about restaurants around the world that are either trying to get a star, to keep a star, or to get an additional star. “The Bear” captured that whole gourmet chef world pretty well, it appears.
Also, I see that S3 of Dark Winds has dropped on NFLX.
I watched all three episodes Mob War: Philadelphia vs The Mafia and really liked it. I’m not sure it stands out from any of the other documentaries about the mob getting taken down by the police, but it’s still worth watching if you like those kind of shows. There was another one from a few years ago, Fear City: New York vs The Mafia that I also liked. A lot of Rudy Giuliani in it though.
I’ve been watching Darryl on NFLX, a spinoff from The Walking Dead of course. Like many, I lost interest in TWD long ago, but started watching this out of boredom. And darned if I didn’t get hooked on it.

Melissa McBride, the ‘Carol’ character, is also on the show, right? She was almost as popular a character as Daryl was on TWD-- I’m surprised she didn’t get title billing as well.
But then, ‘Daryl and Carol’ would’ve sounded like a cheesy Rom Com.
Yeah, she is on the show, more prominently in S2 than in S1. It’s odd that in a series that is apocalyptic fiction, the biggest glaring error to me was the fact that someone flies a Beachcraft Bonanza from the east coast of the US to Paris, only stopping in Greenland to refuel. Nice trick.
Beachcraft Bonanza
Nitpick:
Beechcraft

Did they name the plane ‘Spirit of St. Louis’? ![]()
