I heard that even S3 is not the last season, which is unfortunate. I don’t know how long the story should take, but not super long I think.
My eyeballs rolled so much they popped out of my head and rolled across the floor. My cat ate one of them, which kinda sucks. What an absurd, even slapstick, ending.
Still, it was pretty well done, overall. I agree with @needscoffee and rate it around 6/10. Tops. I don’t regret watching it, but I wouldn’t even consider watching it twice.
The 'Burbs On Peacock
Based on the 1989 movie, Keke Palmer and Jack Whitehall move into his parents’ nice suburban home and encounter the weirdness and odd goings-on in the town, including someone new moving into the creepy house across the street. It also features Julia Duffy, Paula Pell, Mark Proksch, and Kapil Talwalkar. There’s a mystery of a runaway friend that strings the episodes along as the characters all begin investigating that.
It’s fun and I liked the actors. The mystery was kind of creepy, I guess, but other than the setting, it’s not that close to its predecessor. Though I must admit that I haven’t seen the movie in quite a while. The ending did leave me wanting more.
Okay, I’m really liking Murderbot now. The characters are getting more fleshed out. I both feel for the SecUnit and I’m frustrated he doesn’t get it. Hard to miss the autism coding.
There’s a lot of stuff happening in Season 1 that I don’t recall from Book 1. For those who have read the series, did they add totally new stuff in, or just mash later books together for the storyline?
For no real reason other than it popped up in my Hulu feed, I watched the first 5 or 6 episodes of Living Single. I don’t think I’ve watched it since it was on or maybe a few reruns when I was in college (which was right after it aired). Two things caught my eye almost immediately. It’s essentially The Golden Girls, and the first episode was clearly filmed in the Winslow’s (Family Matters) house/set.
Yup, here we are in Season 4 of Dark Winds: AMC is dropping a new episode every Sunday (for the next seven weeks, apparently).
And the internet tells me that the series has officially been renewed for a fifth season, which is fine; so far, I’m happy to keep watching this thing as long as they keep making it. This is definitely not the original story arc of the Tony Hillerman novels, though I’m deliberately not rereading so I won’t get (more) confused.
Mock the Week
Recommended. If you aren’t aware, Mock the Week went off the air a few years ago. It was brought back about two weeks ago and is more or less the same as ever. Dara, Hugh*, even the set are the same.
It’s nice to have back. I like Dara O’briain the most. I think the whole cast and guests are quite humorous, though.
*Hugh was not available for the first two episodes and just rejoined the third.
How to Get to Heaven from Belfast (Netflix)
The story/mystery is just good enough but the characters make it well worth the watch. It’s by the same showrunner as Derry Girls but shares little with that show except it’s in Ireland and has a familiar face in the second half of its 8 episodes. The casting is brilliant, especially the young lookalike actresses in the flashbacks.

Nitpick: Northern Ireland, there was a 30 year civil war over that distinction…
It’s an island and there are episodes on both sides of the border, but mostly Donegal in the Republic.
How to Get to Heaven from Belfast (2026, Netflix, 1 se.) Recommended. I am a big fan of Lisa McGee’s other project Derry Girls, so I was already full in. My wife is new to Irish shows and Mrs. McGee’s style but she is enjoying it as well.
ETA: Ha! Ninja’d, listen to Elmer_J.Fudd guys.

In Episode 1 one of the characters says “I’m glad I brought my Euro purse” – alluding to frequent border crossings with 2 different currencies.
I’m a bit disappointed the Donegal accent doesn’t play a larger role. She had fun with that in Derry Girls.
Finished the main series of Narcos, which was excellent. I haven’t decided whether I want to move on to the Mexico series.
Started the new season of The Rookie. Look, I like Nathan Fillion onscreen and the characters are fun but my god the plots just get stupider by the episode.
The FBI: “We’re trying to catch an international arms dealer in Prague, so clearly the best people to handle this are an LA beat cop and his wife.” whaaaaaaaaaat
I liked Wonder Man. I didn’t know what to expect going in. I didn’t expect a superhero show that isn’t a superhero show. The origin story of comic book Wonder Man is convoluted and not very well known so they threw all of that out. I don’t know where they are going to go with the character from here but it’s a good self contained miniseries. And of course there is Sir Ben Kingsley, excellent as always.
I haven’t seen the first few seasons of ER (the Clooney years), so it’s new to me too. It actually feels pretty fresh, although a couple of things seemed dated so far
I’ve finished watching season 1 of ER. I think it compares quite favourably to The Pitt (perhaps not surprisingly) although there is more of a soap opera element. Dr. Ross’s (George Clooney) stories are easily the least interesting though. Season 2 has added even more about the characters’ personal lives, for better or for worse.
Another thing that dates the show is the number of patients with AIDS (again, not surprising for a show from the ‘90s).

I watched ER in real time and have never revisited the earlier seasons. Mostly what I remember is how ridiculous it got toward the end, with helicopter crashes and exploding ambulances and the like, week after week. (Even though I still enjoyed it for what it was.)
I’m happy that Wyle is not playing Dr. Carter on the Pitt, as the two shows definitely don’t feel to me like they could exist in the same reality. Maybe I’d revise that opinion if I were to rewatch ER, which I may or may not do.
I watched S4E1 of The Lincoln Lawyer last night. I’ll watch the whole season just because I want to see whodunit and how it gets solved.
It’s a shame, because I really like the Lincoln Lawyer novels (and the movie with Matthew McConaughy was decent), but since they cast a block of wood as the lead actor, I find the series unwatchable. ![]()

I think most of the first season has a similar feel; you can even kind of map similar characters between the two shows (Dr. Greene → Dr. Robby, Carter → Huckleberry, etc). Obviously the real-time element isn’t there so most cases are wrapped up in an hour, and there is more discussion of home life (Dr. Greene and his wife, Dr. Lewis and her sister, Dr. Benton and Marcellus Wallace).
I started watching ER around season 7, so I also remember the ridiculous helicopter crashes (which is about when I gave up).
