Series you've recently watched, are now watching or have given up on

Yes, the games were incredibly week. They need to take a long look at the show and try to find ways to make the late game interesting. It currently is just tedious.

Joe Schmo was also such a great show. They had a recent revival and it was hilarious.

No Jury or trial this time. It’s a fake company retreat.

We watched the first two episodes of the resurrected Scrubs. Exact same vibe as 20+ years ago which means that the characters have had zero character growth. That’s okay, and there are still plenty of laughs. This might be one of those shows I neglect in my “continue watching” queue until there’s an evening I don’t feel like exercising my brain.

Watched this a couple of years ago. Enjoyed it - although I’m not sure that’s really the right expression to use as it’s one of the bleakest things I’ve watched in years, and I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re the kind of fan of Tennant who likes him as a human being, rather than just as an actor.

OB

We liked it, but it is disappointing that:

  • Elliot and JD divorced
  • Dr. Cox is only going to be in 3 episodes

It’s actually the preview for the company retreat season that prompted us to go back and watch Jury Duty. We were like, “this looks pretty good, actually.”

It seems like they just find the most chill, good-natured person and put them in this wild situation to see how they respond.

Yes, the main goal of any show like this is to find a real person that we can like and cheer for. The Joe Schmo show does very well at this.

Check out Joe Schmo if you are interested. This year, it was a fake reality show with crazy events happening all the time.

It’s on Britbox.

And my bad on the channel. In my OP (or somewhere thereafter), I specifically mentioned that responses should include where programs can be found.

Thank you!

PLEASE! I dont get Netflix, in fact I hate it, but it seems like everyone here assumes everyone has it.

I’m not crazy about it, but it generally has a wider selection of shows and is cheaper than some other PPV sites. Most of my hate is for Hulu, which is expensive and doesn’t seem to change their lineup very often. I have a subscription, but it’s been on hold for many months and I’ll likely just cancel it (again).

Just finished the latest season of All Creatures Great and Small. It remains a good palette cleanser from all the dark and heavy shows that are on. I had to look up the woman you plays Charlotte this season. She looked very familiar. I realized it’s because she looks like a young Emma Thompson who happens to be her mother.

I find that looking up a show on IMDB accurately lists where it’s playing. Beware if it lists Amazon because that might just mean it’s for sale or rent.

I always thought that a streaming consolidator service would be successful. Look up a film or series and it finds whatever platform it’s on, and handles a micropayment to that platform on your behalf if you watch it. That way you wouldn’t have to subscribe to several to cover whatever you want to watch. The chances of that happening is slim to none, given the behemoths running the platforms being greedy.

I’m gonna plug a YouTube series I’ve been following: The Moon Woke Up.

It’s animated sci-fi comedy horror that will not appeal to everyone but has certainly hit the sweet spot for me in terms of all the elements including the dark humor that has made me laugh out loud on multiple occasions.

I use (web site or link from Letterboxd ; haven’t used their own app)

Yep, Letterboxd linked with JustWatch has been amazing. I discover new movies and click the little box to find out where it streams.

Just to add a further tip: you can select which services you use, and - at least in the Letterboxd app - then optionally choose to filter films in your watch list by “streaming” (versus rent/buy).

I watched this in France last fall and noticed it just dropped on US Netflix.

I’ve been watching Steal on Prime starring Sansa Stark. It’s pretty bad. Don’t watch it.
