The name of the show is actually DTF St. Louis. (No periods)

Link is to Wiki article

Going from context from the Wikipedia article, I’m assuming that the initialism stands for “Down to Fuck”.

“Down to fuck” is a slang phrase that means “willing to perform the act of copulation”.

“Slang” is, according to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary

an informal nonstandard vocabulary composed typically of coinages, arbitrarily changed words, and extravagant, forced, or facetious figures of speech

As already mentioned, that IS LITERALLY the name of the show.

If you go into it expecting a murder mystery, you will be disappointed. If you instead want an exploration of the modern human condition, of loneliness, of “normal”, you will likely enjoy it.

I have some skepticism about the show because I thought Dan Levy was probably the least funny actor on Schitt’s Creek; I’m not sure having more of him in a new show would be an improvement.

I caught up during my spring break. I finished watching season 2 of FUBAR and The Furies, and I’m well through the 2nd season of Wednesday.

I loved season one of Wednesday, but season two is even better. They have filled out the characters more and created more plot lines. I’m hooked. They have to have a season three. They must!! :flushed:

Bad Mistakes My wife and I couldn’t wait for the weekend so we binged watched the entire thing. We enjoyed it, didn’t see the twist at all. Rotten Tomatoes gives it 80%/72% on their Tomatometer and I would that’s fair.

It’s set up for a Season 2 and I am here for it when it drops.

It’s not. His one-note frantic mannerisms just get more irritating as the series rolls on. And despite its early promise, it isn’t all that funny. We’ll see it to the end as the episodes are short and we’re more than halfway through, but I don’t see recommending it to anyone. It’s no Schitt’s Creek.

The new and last season of Hacks has started. They are dropping one episode a week so I’ll be waiting until a few are up before I start.

That’s true. But that’s a high bar. My wife and I enjoyed Big Mistakes. I thought the Morgan character was great. And the family dynamics fun. The plot kept us engaged. It’s not life changing drama (or comedy) but a fun little series.

I guess this answers my questions about Big Mistakes. I watched the preview and my concern was that if Dan’s character in this show is too similar to David Schitt, that’s all I’m going to be able to see.

However, a different show that I’ve probably mentioned here and can highly recommend is Kevin Can Fuck Himself. The lead in this show is Annie Murphy (Alexis Schitt). It’s an interesting concept. The show is split between sappy, over lit/over saturated, multi camera, 90s sitcom with a laugh track, a very dark/serious show. Like going back and forth between The Sopranos and Blossom.

Watched 2 episodes. I’ll see if my wife is still interested. I hate most of the characters and keep thinking to myself “People don’t talk like that.”

So far I don’t mind Bobby Carnevale’s character. That sums up most of his career for me. I’ve liked him in things I’ve otherwise disliked. His son is also fine as his younger version. So far anyway.

The Scarpetta character is pretty bland. Kidman does an ok job. The actor playing her younger self is very believable as a young Kidman. The relationship between the sisters is so toxic that it makes it unbelievable.

Simon Baker has proven he can do an excellent American accent. Apparently he can’t do a southern American accent. He sounds awful.

Jamie Lee Curtis has become unwatchable. She makes modern day Al Pacino look subtle. Way too over the top. She would have driven away everyone in her life long ago.

The AI plot makes me think of when tv writers in the 1970s who knew nothing about computers wrote about computers. Maybe if they confuse the AI wife the computer will start spitting out punch cards. Only insane Jamie Lee Curtis is reacting sanely to the idea of spending 24 hours a day with a dead AI wife. How is everyone looking at that and saying “she’s fine leave her be”?

I know my mother read all of the books. No idea how close the show is to them.

It appears The Terror is getting a third season 7 years after the last one, that is a surprise.

Huh. She was great in Everything, Everywhere, All At Once. Haven’t seen her a ton elsewhere…oh, she was OK in the latest Halloween films.

I loved this show, and, yes, there was not a trace of Alexis in her characterization. The show was risky but it worked. I thought the ending was perfect.

I’m currently watching True Blood. For a show that’s named after a product, it’s kinda odd how few of the characters actually use it.

I finished slogging my way through The Hunting Party on NetFlix. Stupid plot, predictable action. Not sure why I watched all 10 episodes. Not recommended.

This was one of the few series which we never made to the end. It was such a drop in quality that we couldn’t even hate watch more than one season (I think we did that with Season 5), and just couldn’t bear a second episode of Season 6. It was interesting just then to find out they kept going for ANOTHER season after that.

It’s sad in its drop in quality, the characters were REALLY good at first. I see the actors appear in other places and have little flashbacks to a good character, and one of those series where the lead was the least interesting character (like Orange is the new black). Lafayette, Pam, Tara, Eric, Jessica, even Jason, were all good fun.

Started “The Count of Monte Cristo” on PBS. Typically well-acted period piece.

So… it’s actually engaging? I gave up on Schitt’s Creek a few months ago. Could not get past season one. Couldn’t even get very deep into it. I’m pretty sure I didn’t even make it to episode 5. Just did not give two shits about any of the characters or their situation. On the humor scale, it was at best a “heh” at a rate of once an episode.

Seconded. I’m reading the book now.

Re: Schitt’s Creek

Seconded. I’ve always hated cringe comedy. Didn’t watch Curb Your Ethusiasm for the same reason.
