Season 1, episode 6, btw

My favorite moment in Schitt Creek is David learning, like a child, how to ride a bike.

That and the theme song to “Little bit of Lexis”

Yes, the local fruit wine commercial was hilarious. I don’t think I’ve seen the David and Moira wine tasting yet.

Another wine-related one was after David and Stevie slept together for the first time, then later they are at the general store picking out a bottle of wine to take to a party.

Stevie says something like “I like red wine. I only drink red wine. And until last night, I thought you only drank red wine too.”

David says “I like red wine, but I also like white wine. And sometimes a rosé. And I once tried a merlot that used to be a chardonnay.”

I read something Dan Levy wrote about how some people embraced that wine metaphor. I think there may have been t-shirts?

“I like the wine and not the label” merch was all over the place for a while.

That’s what I was thinking of.

We’re halfway through Season 5 of You, ie: What would Hannibal Lector be if we was a romantic.I must admit I thought it burnt out by end of Season 3, but the last two seasons have been fun and surprising. I did look for the thread on the dope, but google/search-fu really isn’t great against titles which are common words appearing in every post.

We loved season 4 of YOU, but not season 5. We did like the ending, which we won’t get into until you(heh) are there.

Last night I watched Epi 1 of Unfamiliar on Netflix. A bit confusing as the backstory is revealed in bits and pieces, but it might be a good watch. It’s a German spy thriller, but the English is fine.

Started watching Margo’s Got Money Troubles. It is about Elle Fanning OnlyFanning and also has Nick Offerman with his beard tuned up to 11.

A Little Bit Alexis.

11.22.63 Series, there are 8 episodes, by Stephen King

Consisting of eight episodes, in which a time traveler (portrayed by James Franco) attempts to stop the assassination of John F. Kennedy. The series was developed by Bridget Carpenter, who also executive produced along with J. J. Abrams, King, and Bryan Burk.

I searched this thread and no one has posted.

I’m currently watching episode six. Excellent series. Only an author like Stephen King can make Time a dangerous character. Time reacts violently to the Protagonist’s attempt to change history.

Highly recommend. Rating, 9 out of 10

I bought the Season on Prime.

It may still be on Hulu. I don’t subscribe.

Curious if you’ve read the book?

If so, is the series faithful to the book?

I haven’t read the book, yet. I plan too.
Apparently King had objections. AFAIK He’s rarely liked the films based on his books.

I’m a Prime member and the Entire series only cost $19.99 plus tax.

From Wikipedia

I have not read it, but pretty sure it is not faithful.

I’m impressed with the research. People like
George de Mohrenschildt befriended Oswald in the summer of 1962.

I’ve followed the JFK case since high school. Never heard of this guy. But, Wikipedia confirms he is a real person that testified before the Warren Commission.

I’m not spoiling anything by mentioning this person. It’s only confirmation of Stephen King’s research.

Anyone else notice the inside joke? Al is the first time traveler. Uh, Scott Bakula hint, hint knew a guy called Al too.

Daredevil. I see that the continuation series, Born Again, has been getting some good reviews, but I’ve never seen the original.

And beyond what I’ve just seen (the first 10 minutes), I don’t suspect I ever will, unless someone can tell me something changes.

Because as it stands, I am not super-interested in continuing with the trope of a supposed good-guy defense attorney (by day) who will only defend innocent people and crime-fighting vigilante (by night) who goes after street criminals. Fuck that. Also not super-impressed that the first action we see of our supposed hero just happens to be a white man (and a defense attorney no less!) beating the shit out of a big scary black man (plus a foreign-sounding villain!) for trafficking a couple of white women (oh, and I see they (maybe?) added a black woman into the background and on the edge of visibility, so we know the producers aren’t that racist).

If that’s the premise, I am sure MAGA loves this show, but I find it pretty gross just on first impressions.

Does it ever change? Like, will he soon come to the realization that everyone is entitled to a defense, regardless of how he perceives their guilt or innocence, and that the whole purpose of a trial is to require the government to prove every element of it’s case no matter how seemingly unsympathetic the accused might be? Is he going to undergo a change in attitude and realize, actually, it’s the power structures that are keeping people oppressed that he should be going after and, where necessary, the people who sit atop them, perpetuating systemic injustice, rather than random street villains?

If so, I might give the series more than 10 minutes of my time. As it stands, I don’t think it was worth even that much.

Well, that about sums it up. That’s exactly who Daredevil is.

Well, damn. He sounds like a real piece of shit.

It’s not quite that black-and-white, there are loads of character and story elements woven together to make things more palatable. His real problem is he keeps neglecting the lawyering too much, and spends far too much time vigilante-ing.
