Series you've recently watched, are now watching or have given up on

Oh, it is? OK, I’ll give it more of a chance too then; thanks for the info.

I slogged my way through S2 of The Gentlemen on Netflix. The plot went into multiple very dark directions, with an extremely disturbing and bloody ending to the finale. I didn’t much care for the story line during the last few episodes.

I have read that S3 is in the works, to be released late 2027 or early 2028. I doubt if I’ll watch it.

Hmm, that’s next on my list to watch. I won’t get my hopes up, which is a shame because I really enjoyed s1.

The only new show I’m currently watching is the new Scrubs. It’s still quirky. Not a bad watch. Hoping some more of my favorite characters show up (RIP Ted).

I’m waiting mostly patiently for the next seasons of School Spirits, Wednesday, and Welcome To Derry. I have high hopes… but not too high.

I am also rewatching Midnight Club. I read the short novel years and years ago, and the series is a good reimagining. Was cancelled before they could end it properly, but you can find the outline of what would have happened in the final season online.

I felt the same. I even rewatched S1 before starting S2 in case I had forgotten something (which I had).

Maybe your experience will be different than mine.

I have some memory deficit: I can rewatch a show after a few years and not remember any details at all. This might be fortunate! I’d much rather rewatch a great series than watch a mediocre series for the first time.

So I’ve just re-binged the first dozen episodes of Lucifer. Maybe my interest will diminish after another season or two, but right now I’m thinking that this is one of the very greatest TV series ever!*

I often prefer series which are realistic and believable; and I usually avoid comedies (except “dark comedies”!) but I love Lucifer despite that its humor is “low-brow” and that its ridiculousness is way “over-the-top”! The stories are exciting; the characters are interesting; the acting is excellent; and – I confess – I’m a sucker for a well-done sentimental love story. Very few series are as entertaining as this one.

The tone varies wildly from scene to scene or episode to episode, but that keeps interest alive. If a story-line requires far-fetched context, why not go all the way? Mobland is also unrealistic, has a slightly higher IMDB rating than Lucifer, but to me is mostly just a tedious shoot-em-up. (And almost all the recurring characters in Lucifer are likeable while none in Mobland are.)

Reviewing past comments on Lucifer I’m not surprised to see opinions vary from “one of my favorites” to “unwatchable dreck.” For my taste I’ll call it #1 among the fantasy/superhero genre.

If that’s a memory deficit I have it, too.

We are watching and enjoying Blue Skies. Great scenery, and a good dog.

I might further add that it does not reflect the talent of the Ghosts (US) creative team.

Yes, I was surprised when @Dewey_Finn mentioned upthread that it was from the makers of Ghosts US. As I said in reply, I’ll give it another try based on that info.

But sometimes lightning just doesn’t strike twice. I enjoyed Superstore, so when I saw a show called American Auto was coming out that was made by the creator of Superstore, I was looking forward to it. But it was pretty bad, and I gave it an entire season to prove itself. Never got better.

Oh and, speaking of Ghosts, we also started watching Ghosts Australia, which is pretty good. About 4 eps in, I’d rank it 3rd on the list of Ghosts we’ve watched, after the UK and US versions, respectively. But, a strong 3rd place.

I can see it now: Ghosts Cinematic Universe

It’s like you’re angling to write for the next season.

Coming soon on CBS:

Mummy Dearest: a show about an overbearing mother-in-law…who also happens to be a 2,000 year old undead preserved corpse! Comedy you can really get wrapped up in.

Franklin Stein: A new comedy about a High School student who doesn’t understand why he just doesn’t fit in with the other kids-- until his parents tell him, well, he wasn’t so much adopted as…assembled. It’ll have you in stitches!

Some of the later episodes of Ghosts did not reflect the talent of the Ghosts (US) creative team.

Lots of cringe comedy with Samantha being caught in a silly lie.

These sound like something straight from Mad Magazine, exactly what they did best.

I thought of another one, if I may be so indulged. I’ll stop after this, I promise…

Coming soon to CBS, from the makers of Ghosts (US) and Eternally Yours:

Who’s the Beast: She’s an ailuranthrope. He’s a lycanthrope. This odd couple has mated for life, yet they fight like cats and dogs! You’ll be howling with laughter.

There was a real-world dramatic series, first in the UK and then North America, called Being Human, in which the premise was a vampire, a werewolf and a ghost are roommates. It was actually really good, though not comical.

And a spinoff series with a different ghost, vampire and werewolf combination called Becoming Human.

You people have got me hooked on Perry Mason. I’m most of the way through Season 1, JFC there’s 39 episodes in Season 1, this is taking forever to binge.

WRT payment, at least a few of his clients this season have been throwing thousands his way as retainers, pretty well offsetting the sweet old lady who just paid him a grand total of $30.

Interesting cast in both the American and British versions. It was my first introduction to several actors that I have seen in many things since.
