Serious Insomnia: the MMP

Up and caffeinated. Working midshift today.

: crosses appropriate and inappropriate appendages for sari :

Mooom, I’d like a nice big marine tank, just bring it over with you!

Didn’t get to see anything of Sheffield, just did a load of driving and picking up stuff from places. Got back last night, but was too lazy to post.

Have irk today, for which I should be getting ready now. Need to get some din-din, but it’s really early and I’m not hungry, but I know I will be by 10 pee emm ish when irk finishes, and I won’t get a dinner break. Good luck with the house Sari!

I’ve got a load of shorts hanging on the line and a load of t-shirts in the washer. That may be the extent of my productivity today. We shall see…

**Nut **- I’m pretty sure I’d exceed the 50#/bag limit, not to mention the main tank is about 6’ long. Sorry.

The shirts are now on the line, and laundry is done till I have to bring it all in. Lunch was some leftover poke from the other day, plus some fake Pringles called Lay’s Stax. And a glass of purple.

I just finished computing the distances **FCD **will drive to all the various offload sites for crabbers - most of them are a 40-mile round trip or more, at 56¢ per mile. Cha-ching!! So I guess we’re good to go. Or he is - I’ll just be covering a day or two for him.

It’s still cool so the house is still open - yay! And that’s all the exciting news here.

blurf

Happy Firday! :snoopy dance:

Looks like I will be caught up enought to duck out early today.

Did get some good sleep, thanks.

Sometime in the next few weeks, I’ve gotta go take an assessment to prove my English is good enough for the Business English course I’m enrolled in, since former college can’t seem to get a transcript over to new college. I may well do that this morning, since that lab is open for that test (it’s walk-in), and I don’t have to be at work until 3.

Closing, but I’m only doing 4.5 hours today. Tomorrow, I get the lovely 7-hour (12-7:30, 30-minute lunch) closing shift. On a Saturday. When we have a big sale scheduled. Said sale will probably confuse or “confuse” our customers.

There’s a reason for the apparent redundancy. Some customers may be genuinely puzzled, others will probably choose to misunderstand in an effort to scam.

Good afternoon All.

Congrats on the non-existent cancer, Sari. We told you not to worry - you should always listen to the MMPers.

Today I realized just how out of shape I am. When I was younger, I climbed mountains, for Pete’s sake, all day long. Now, walking up a flight of stairs twice with not-so-heavy boxes makes me sweat and gets the knee throbbing. I should have never joined the Navy - it turned me into a lard-ass. I would have made it to the summit of Everest by now at least once.

I hope everyone has a good weekend. I plan on sitting around feeling sorry for myself and all of the lost opportunities.

BTW, where did the smilies go?

I passed out last night; lost consciousness even. Luckily, I was already horizontal on the sofa when that happened. :stuck_out_tongue:

Less than one hr after finally flopping into bed (approaching four ay em), I was roused by the whoop-de-whoops going a few streets over.

Didja notice what I called it?

Yes I did.

I am confused by the difference between confuse and “confuse”. :dubious:

I’ve got one of my two bags pretty much packed - it’s not even 30#. So I’m pretty sure I’ll be well within the 2 each 50# max luggage limit. Yay! I just gathered up the yarn, hooks, and pattern for the crocheting I’ll do on board. And I added 5 t-shirts - it’s lots easier to re-wear jeans than shirts. I’ll have 2 more outfits - the one I wear on the plane, and the one I change into the next day - the change of clothes will be in my carry-on. I think I’m good. Yay!

Sadly, I had to close up the house. It’s not hot, but it’s really humid. I know it’s bad when it bothers me - I can usually tolerate a lot more than my sweetie. With luck, tho, I can open up at bedtime. We shall see.

I’m thinking some sort of fish for supper. I think I have some tuna steaks in the freezer. Yum!

**flytrap **- some people are genuinely confused and some fake it, hoping the employee will take pity and make them a deal. Some people are just a pain…

Howdy Y’all! Irk is over. Let the weekend begin! ::Opens beerverage:: I accomplished site visits in the west and southeast forties today. Go Me! Only got rained on a little bit. I had N.O.L. a a really good [del]hog trough[/del] buffet place in one of the little towns I was in today so not hongry. OYKW confessed he and a couple of co-irkers sneaked out and had N.O.L. in a pretty good local [del]hog trough[/del] buffet place so he’s not real hongry either. Thus, if’n dindin is desired, it shall be forage the fridge. I do have some deli sammich fixin’ stuff as this weekend has been declared a no cook weekend.

Spidey I noticed it too.

Sari appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed re the inspection which may or may not have already happened.

Ok, off to see what else is happenin’ on teh intartoobz.

Have I mentioned lately that I hate your guts?

What Mom said. We do get the hagglers and the outright scammers at the thrift store I work in, and I will not be at all surprised to see intentional “misunderstanding” for ripoff purposes. There was a reason for one version being in quotation marks.

Haggling at a thrift store seems to be rather tacky to me.

Laundry is down, folded, and mine is put away. **FCD **is futzing in his shop, so his clothes are still in his basket.

I’m not going to start supper till he comes upstairs - tuna steaks and something - I’ll figure out the sides later. Meanwhile, I wait.

Home from the inspection.

It went very well thank y’all for the well wishes.

There are a few problems, I’m waiting for the finished report and then we negotiate.
Nothing that is serious, nothing that can’t wait except for one electrical issue that needs to be fixed NOW! The inspector says the owner should thank me for that info because it needs to be fixed no matter who buys the house. The cable that runs from the pole to the house has pulled loose and is laying on the roof.
Anyway, the inspector said he would love for me to get this house, it’s in great shape, the windows and roof are new, all the appliances and fixtures are new, and the house is sitting on a good solid foundation. He thinks that all things total would not cost more than $5000 to fix.

So I’m happy with the outcome, when I get the official report I can negotiate who will fix what.

Something is wrong with the cable here, guess I need to call Verizon.

Happy Firday everyone!

Ya know, sometimes I come across recipes for fish, usually baked, that sound good and look good, but then when I taste them, they taste … well, not good to me. I dunno, I never have liked the taste of fish, except for tuna in tuna salad. Salmon looks so good, and it’s healthy to eat, but I just don’t like the taste of it! There are some fish, though, that I’ve had prepared in certain ways that I did like the taste of. Unfortunately, I have -not- been able to re-create the recipes! I had a fish stew that had monkfish in it once, and that was actually very delicious - unfortunately, it was at an Easter Buffet at a fairly pricey restaurant, I don’t think I could have inquired for the recipe there. I’ve also like red snapper the few times I’ve had that. It’s a pricey fish, though. But I might try to get some fresh, well as fresh as you can get in New Mexico! LOL

My daughter and I just had some Peruvian empanadas for lunch, chicken and beef. The beef one is my favorite - it’s got currants in it! I don’t know what all they put in there but I do know the currants are in there. laughs Very tasty; there are sauces that go with them, varying in heat from plain hot to very hot!

Sending good thoughts and healing thoughts to all in need. I hope everyone has had a good Friday; believe it or not, there has been enough rain in Albuquerque in the past little over a month that we’re not in a drought any longer, just abnormally dry! There are still parts of the state where it’s dangerously dry/drought, but they’re smaller than before, so it’s a good thing. It’s been warm, but not too warm, although the rains have brought humidity - boo!

Have a good evening!

Speaking of insomnia, I tried to have a nap today, but I kept coughing. :frowning: I’m such a failure at naps.

Working on craft projects. And tonight, I may lose some hours to Sims 2.
