Serious Insomnia: the MMP

Let’s just say there are some seriously tacky people who shop there. Then you have immigrants from cultures where that’s a normal thing to do.

Sari yay for good home inspection. Appropriate/inappropriate appendages remained crossed.

In other news, we are promised rain, but I do see it on the radar. I want my rain dagnabbit!

Great news, sari!! One step closer to freedom!!

Supper was mega-yum. I lurves me some tuna steak!! We also had twice-baked N.O.T., sugar snap peas, and my sweetie finished off some leftover Amish corn. We’s both stuffded.

The house is open - it’s only 75° outside, and since that’s where we set our a/c, it makes sense to let mother nature keep us at temp.

Cable guy is coming out Sunday - who knew they work on Sunday?
Some channels are working, unfortunately they are mostly the ones I don’t watch.
I am so sleepy.
This week as been a sucky irk week, I am way behind. I was hoping to irk a lot this weekend but now the cable guy is coming on Sunday and I have a birthday party to attend that I thought was next Sunday. Maybe tomorrow will be busy.

Not if a nosy inspector didn’t find it.

The electrical cable? “Pulled loose” as in not connected, there is no electricity?

Great.
Five grand less that I get when I sell the house. :frowning:
Why does the inspector care who buys the house?

Today was Kafkaday. DH needed to go to the Social Security office to do a marriage-related name change, and then we were off to the DMV. Hours and hours of waiting in queues. It doesn’t help any that two of the DMV offices in this area were closed, so the office we went to is seeing roughly triple its usual activity.

I will be hearing the overly soothing female Voice of the DMV in my sleep now…
Now serving Bee One Four Three at Window Seventeen
Now serving Eff Zero Seven Zero at Window Four
Now serving Gee One Six Two at Window Eight

Time for knittage! MWAH!

I hear thunder rumblin’ in the distance. Come on rain and tstorms!

Gotti all I can say is ick!

15 hours on the road is crazy. We made it safely to our destination for two days and I am very proud of hubby for all the safe driving and Lucky Louie for being so good.

We found the little town we are in is no longer little and Old Clinton BBQ has a place here. So we had pulled pork, slaw and my favorite Brunswick Stew. It’s not the best I’ve ever had but a good substitute.

Exhausted. Walked around the perimeter of the hotel walking the dog and there is an indoor pool and a small gym. I will be using that pool tomorrow. Good news Sari. Hopefully the sellers will step up quickly and do the right thing. If not, I think you should go the rental route till something breaks. Just my 2 cents. Peace of mind is worth so much.

Here’s hoping everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Don’t know how I’ll get to sleep with this goddamn cough. At least I didn’t have to go to work today. I can’t stand my boss commenting on my fucking cough. At least I told her that I didn’t like it when she did that.

Worked, came home. : opens beerverage : Closing next 3 days.

True story:
Idiot: “This is 50 cents!”
Me: " No, the sign clearly identifies this other, smaller item for that price."
Idiot: “It was near it!”
Me: : looks at sign 1 shelf down, and 16 feet up the aisle from idiot’s item ::dubious::rolleyes:

They would haggle at Dollar Tree, too.:dubious:

: continues crossing appropriate and inappropriate appendages :

Poor Baby!
I wish that we could recommend a tot of whiskey.
:frowning:

::taps foot repeatedly:: You know the rules around here, pics or they ain’t tacky! :stuck_out_tongue:

Wait a sec; I think I got…

yup, I do…Ohboyohboyohboy!! Gee One Six Two gives me…

BINGO!!!

I was with the wrong balloon tonight. We flew past where the first balloon landed, in the back yard of one of two neighboring parties, first was for a lesbian wedding tomorrow, & the other was a pool/birthday party for two sisters - 16 & 20, with all of their girlfriends in bikinis. They then, of course gave tether rides to all of the of-age guests while we only packed up & went back to the field for a tailgate b-day spread. ::sigh::

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 93 and allegedly we shall have rain this afternoon/evenin’. Can’t believe I’m up this early. Then again we were sound asleep at eight thirty last night. OYKW is still snoozin’ away. I need to go do a few errands in town, so I think I’ll clean up in a bit and go early to get it over with. Might even surprise OYKW by gettin’ us bizkits this mornin’. That would be mighty nice of me.

Midget feel better! Soft Kitty. Warm Kitty. Little ball of fur. Happy Kitty. Sleepy Kitty. Purr. Purr. Purr.

Ok, I’ll have some more caffiene and then go purtify so as to be presentable to the public.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

My sweetie got up with the dog this morning so I got to sleep in a bit. He’s gone back to bed and I’m having an egg-n-cheese sammich.

Last night, I put up an ad for the cupola/wind vane unit that used to be atop our house. **FCD **fixed the base yesterday and slapped some paint on it, I took some pics, and I put some ads on Craigslist and the local classifieds site. This morning I had 2 responses - one must have been reading this thread, because he started haggling without having seen it other than the pics. I’ve sent a response to the non-haggler, because he didn’t piss me off - I’ll tell the other guy he’s second in line. But it’ll be nice to get it sold and gone.

I also got an email from the little store that I’ve got a check waiting - wonder if it’ll be more than $20?? Good thing I don’t rely on my crafts to put groceries on the table. We’d be hurting!

No idea what today will hold, apart from possibly getting rid of the cupola. We shall see…

Happy Saturday!

Poll time. I posted a Craigslist ad that included a map (not to our house but to the nearest main road intersection), the name of the “town”, and a rough location relative to 2 larger towns. I get a response asking what town we’re in.

And the area code is from Massachusetts. Yeah, there’s a Navy base nearby so it could be a sailor. Still, should I even bother with this guy?

Google is pretty amazing. I did a search on the MA number - apparently it’s a contractor in the next county over. Why he doesn’t have a local number, I don’t know, but the name and number popped up in a couple of local message boards as recently as last December, so maybe it’s not so “iffy”…

Happy Saturday!

It’s a cool 64 degrees with a projected high of 83 today. Weird weather for August, it should be miserably hot and humid outside.

Today is laundry day and irk my butt off day because irk has been sucky all this week and I need to make some money. I have a birthday party to go to tomorrow, for a teenager so no shopping necessary. Cash money goes with everything.

I need to cancel the appointment with the cable guy as everything is working now.
I got an email from Credit Sesame and my credit score went up a few points. Probably not enough to make a difference with the mortgage rate but you never know. Anyway, up is better than down.
At least one of the HFH took the dogs and left, I know it’s not permanently but it’s still a good thing. I didn’t see them leave so I don’t know if one or both left. I saw all the dog stuff packed up.
This week just keeps getting better and better.

FCM I think Sah-son will never leave home, even with all the stress and tension around here he’d rather stay. Kids these days, they don’t have that same independence - I think it’s because parents today aren’t as strict as parents in the past. We wanted to get away from all their rules and restrictions.
Good luck selling what you want to sell. It would be great if somebody wanted the whole tank setup.
I know people around here with area codes from other states. They moved here and kept their old numbers. I guess since long distance is a thing of the past it doesn’t matter anymore.

Flytrap this is why I am waiting for the official report before I say the things that are wrong. The house does have electrical service but I didn’t go outside with the inspectors. I heard one tell the other that the cable was pulled from the house and laying on the roof and it’s a hazard. At the same time the two inspectors were there there were also two contractors there doing some painting, so they talked a bit about stuff that was done. I’m hoping that since the house is still being worked on a bit that the seller will do some of the work like fixing the loose porch railing and adjusting the gutters. There’s some mold in the basement but it’s minor and can be fogged, cleaned up, and then put in a dehumidifier. The powder room door needs to be planed so it shuts properly.
I think the inspector wants me to have this house because it’s the third inspection he’s done for me and he’s such a nice man and he knows what I am looking for. He wants me to have something solid that won’t take me broke with a bunch of repairs. This house has a lot of new stuff in it, new roof, new windows, two remodeled bathrooms with new fixtures, new kitchen with new appliances.
After he pointed out some things going on it makes me feel a lot better about buying it.

**sari **- eons ago, I knew a woman at work with a son just a bit older than my daughter. She absolutely, positively did NOT want her baby to leave home ever ever ever!!! I couldn’t wrap my head around that. I consider a parent’s job to be preparing offspring to be functioning, independent members of society, assuming there’s no physical/mental reason they can’t live on their own. But this woman was scary to me in her insistence that her son stay. He did eventually take a job a state or two away. Wonder why??

When our daughter and her husband (now ex) lived in our basement, we saw it as a chance for them to save for their own house. He (which is why he’s the ex) saw it as a chance to stay an irresponsible child that much longer. We’d have let our daughter stay to save for a house or grad school, but she wanted her own place with her loser boyfriend. Her life, her choice. Better that, I guess, than expecting us to support her forever…

We’ve got a guy coming in an hour or so to check out the fish stuff - hope he takes it all like he said he might. And I messaged Mr. Lower Offer that he can come and get the cupola if he wants it. As it happens, his offer is what I wanted to list it at anyway, so it works. We’ll see if he calls.

**FCD **is off buying some epoxy primer. He bought a front cowl thingie for his motorcycle and he needs to paint it to go with the pirate theme. I hope he gets back before the fish guy comes, but I know enough to show him what we’ve got until my sweetie gets back, so there’s that.

Much going on already!

Up and caffeinated. laundry then work. It’s 66 and rainy.
