Seriously People, Am I The Only Person Who Has Never Heard Of A "Pimp Cup"?

This is what I figured.

I have never heard of them. Are they popular or something?

Shaka, when the walls fell.

Well, I know what Mom is getting for Christmas.

The Sundance Kid, jumping off the cliff.

On this subject, ignorance [del]is[/del] was bliss.

I had never heard of such a thing before, and upon seeing their tackiness, I kind of wish I hadn’t.

Never heard the term. Wouldn’t want one if they were being handed out for free.

You mean Butch. Sundance is still alive.

I’m going to join the majority, here, and admit that I had no idea that such a thing as a pimp cup existed. Can’t say I find them attractive.

And you call yourself black?!

:stuck_out_tongue:

Ditto. And ditto.

I can add to the chorus of “never heard of it”, and I am actually young (24) and in college. And I listen to hip-hop music. And I still think they seem pretty stupid.

Not knowing what a pimp cup is makes you out of touch?! Actually, I’m wondering if they did all know, or if they were just, uh, frontin’, to use an appropriate phrase. Did each of them give a definition? Perhaps some didn’t know, but didn’t have your courage to admit it.

“Iced out” would be “bedecked with gems”, or at least with things that look like gems.

Really? I wonder if my dad has heard of a pimp cup. I can’t see not knowing what a pimp cup is. My life is made better because of pimp cups.

The eytmology is a cross between crazy and drunk. It’s: a state of being, basically crazy-drunk; a music style associated with the deep south - mainly Atlanta and Memphis; and, an “energy” drink marketed and sold in the inner city - a 21st century kool-aid, if you will. Crunk Juice, in additon to being a Ludacris and Lil’John record, is a general term for alcohol. Though a pimp might put Crunk™ in his cup, he’s more liklely to put crunk juice in there.

Thank god. I thought this was going to be about some competitor to the Diva Cup. I still shake off the heebie jeebies when I remeber the time I stumbled into the last thread about that.

(36-year-old white guy; never heard of a pimp cup. But when I start my own religion, that is so going to be my communion chalice.)

Ignorance fought. Thanks.

You’re not alone. I never heard of it before now, but the picture is pretty much what I imagined it might be.

Likely reasons all your students are familiar with pimp cups:

  • featured on Chappelle’s Show during the Haters Ball sketches
  • rappers flaunt them in videos, especially those from Atlanta/So So Def (in fact, here’s a little article about them from '04)
  • college kids like to throw pimp’n’ho themed parties, and plastic pimp cups are part of the get up and heavily marketed as such

At this point, I sort of feel like they’re just part of current pop culture.
