Sewing aficionados and crafters - pattern search

I have a lot of fabric and it’s time to make some quickie gifts. Specifically, I’m looking for dog clothes patterns. I’m trying to wade through all the ones I’ve found from google, and it’s mostly useless or complicated. I want something simple I can whip up in an hour at the most and modifiable for the few that have patient cats. Something along the lines of a cape with a velcro attachment at the belly. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

You could almost just buy a cheap baby bib and use that as a template for your cape. Cut out (maybe adding a tab at the belly area on both sides), right sides together, sew around leaving a few inches to turn it right side out, and done. Adding binding around the edge for fun, sew on Velcro, done done.

Hmmm… bib pattern sounds do-able. Thanks gigi!

How would you do the collar/neck area, though? More velcro tabs? Hoodie?

I would take the lazy way and replicate the Velcro the way it is on the bib

Or if you do want to do a hood, measure the neck shape, divide in two and just do a simple rectangular hood.

Why not go to a pet store and either buy a cheap doggie garment and copy it, or just study it carefully and make some sketches?

Of course, when you get them done, we will need pictures, preferably on models.
