You’re going to have to provide some link to this story because I have no idea what you are talking about. A search brings up nothing relevant. When did this happen?
You have no idea what i am talking about? What part of what i posted is unintelligible to you?
Not everything that happens gets posted online. If everything i say needs verification from someone else online, i should shut up now and delete this “account”. Actually, ok, if someone could tell me how to do that, i will immediately.
I was told point blank to my face that no wreck happened the night i said i drove past one. So after the wreckage was cleared and the cops left (the state police kept watch over the site for a couple of days), i took photos of the barrier wall: http://designerthinking.com/i-20_wreck.html . A month later i deleted that entire domain and two others. I no longer respond well to being called a liar or to humans egging me on for proof.
OK. Thanks for dropping by.
Depends, how stiff is the offense?
States with anti-sodomy laws were not enforcing them, but just having them on the books made those states deserving of ridicule.
shrug I lived there for 4+ years (and am contemplating moving back, depending on whether I get a certain job or not). I lived there, made friends, good friends at that, and even got married to an Alabamian native. And I’m a British Asian woman, who is scarily liberal by most Alabama standards. Yes, there are some parts I wouldn’t want to live in, but when my self-described redneck step-father in law and my Indian Muslim family get on like a house on fire, I’m willing to revise preconceived notions. Just a thought.

I think you are misunderstanding part of the culture of this message board. Around here, it is very common to ask for cites or to ask for more information. Doing so does not imply that you are lying. It only means that the other person is requesting more information.
As far as I can tell, no one here is calling you a liar.
Looking at that first article there, it seems to me that you could even fall afoul of this law by selling zucchinis – if you sell them with a nudge and a wink.
Well, maybe not. But what are they saying there exactly – that I can sell you an Anais Nin book, but I can’t sell the book to you if I tell you it’ll get you all hot and bothered?
As I’ve already stated in this thread, the law isn’t enforced. I can buy all the dildos, vibrators and porn I want at adult shops here in Alabama. There are at least two that I know of that I’ve been to within a five minute drive from where I’m sitting. These stores advertise on local radio stations. I don’t know how much clearer I can say this.
I feel one cannot continue without mentioning the wonderful Molly Ivins and The Dildo Diaries.

Accidental Martyr, I didn’t mean to imply that I didn’t believe you. Perhaps I should have stated my question more clearly – what I am wondering about is the intent of the specific language in that first part where it is stated:
"Material not otherwise obscene may be obscene under this section if the distribution of the material, the offer to do so, or the possession with the intent to do so is a commercial exploitation of erotica solely for the sake of prurient appeal. "
It sounds to me like it’s trying to say that material which is not ordinarily considered by law to be obscene, will fall into the class this law is intended to cover **if it is presented as “dirty.” ** (I am oversimplifying.)
