Sexiest Man Alive (People Magazine)

OK People Magazine named Ryan Reynolds “Sexiest Man Alive,” which means there are other people that are sexier but those people are now dead

Anyway it got me thinking, so I listed all the winners and thought I’d do a poll.

You can choose as many as you like

If you think the person deserved to win the title of “Sexiest Man Alive” then vote for him. If not don’t vote. You can pick as many as you like, not just one

In otherwords who do you think is worthy of winning such an award.

Just FYI, in 1993 People Magazine didn’t have a “Sexiest Man Alive” award. Instead they named Richard Gere & Cindy Crawford as “Sexiest Couple Alive.” People did not have an award for 1994. So that is why that years is missing

I voted Jude Law, all the way.

I’m close to 95% straight, so I’m probably not the best judge of this, but Ryan Reynolds? I can sort of see the appeal of most people on the list (well, maybe apart from Nolte, and Harry Hamlin must have been the year only gay men voted), but Reynolds I just don’t get. Ladies (and gents), could someone explain the appeal?

I think most of the guys are good-looking, but I chose John F. Kennedy Jr., Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Harrison Ford (in his prime), Ben Affleck, Johnny Depp and Matt Damon. George wins everything for me, Sexiest Man EVER. Well, except for Robert Mitchum in his prime.

He’s not who I would have picked, but that’s because I always thought he was more Cute than Sexy (and I think he’s a very good actor, especially since I saw Buried). However, he’s married to Scarlett Johansson, and that thought alone ups his sexy factor by quite a bit.

He’s not my favorite, but I definitely see the appeal. He’s funny, can be charming, and his body ain’t too shabby.

I voted “other”, as my choice would be David Rees Snell, who among other things went a long way in re-popularizing the full beard in 2004.

Depp is really the only guy I’ve ever found attractive in any sense, although I do think I once figured out what women saw in Brad Pitt.

Everyone else either looks like generic people I know, or I have no idea why women find that type attractive at all.

I read somewhere that there is a very narrow pool of sexiest man contestants for People magazine to choose from. Not that there aren’t tons of sexy men, but they have to be “hot” in more ways than one, that is, they have to be in the public eye, career-wise, have to have a movie they are going to appear in coming up. Or have just had a recent triumph. … As for Ryan Reynolds, my elderly mother said “who the hell is HE?” and I had to google him, as I didn’t know, either.

Any straight males going to vote in this poll?

Apparently not.

I know I have atypical taste in men; I voted for “Other.” A tie between Hugh Laurie and Adrien Brody.

I’d vote for Gerard Butler, myself.

George Clooney is very handsome, and Brad Pitt is very “pretty” but both are too conventionally good-looking to interest me.

Yeah, Ryan Reynolds? Scarlett honey, you can do better than that!

Nice abs, even exceptional abs, don’t make a person sexy. Ryan Reynolds has great abs.

I voted Ford, Harmon (both hot as hell back in the day), Denzel, Depp, and of course Clooney (world without end, amen).

JFK Jr. was beautiful, but not especially sexy. Hugh Jackman is certainly pleasing to they eye and seems like he’d be a lot of fun to hang out with, but again… not sexy. Bourne is crazy sexy, but Damon is only sexy as Bourne (although he seems like a very nice boy).

No one else on that list does a thing for me, except for the ones that make me recoil in horror.

I can’t believe so few people have voted for Denzel compared to Clooney, Depp, etc!

I love Jude Law AND Matt Damon, but I would’ve picked someone not on the list—Karl Urban. I’ve been a fan of his since the early nineties but he is becoming more and more mainstream and I have been “appreciating” him in more and more movies lately!

Well you don’t have to actually like the person, but rather you just feel they deserved to win the award. I can’t believe how many people won twice. I mean what there are only 6.9 BILLION people in the world, you think they could do without the duplicates

Poor Nick Nolte, not one vote so far. I think he was good looking in the 70s but declined very rapidly. He like Mel Gibson is someone you see and say “What happened to him”?

Yeah if we’re voting for the guys as they looked the year they won, then definitely Mel Gibson. He was something back in the day – gorgeous but fun and silly, too. Playful. Wow. :frowning:

I would disagree with Matt Damon, and a couple of the others I had basically never heard of. Other than that, they’re all good.

Edit: But I’m going back to vote on Nick Nolte, because I think he deserved it as much as anyone.

Hey!

(see my previous post)

Again… Nick Nolte? Is it the “bad boy” appeal?

On a completely unrelated note, I must have read your username dozens of time on here, and I just now get it. :smack:

I’d never even heard of him. After looking him up, it turns out that I’ve only even heard of three of the things he’s been in and he was only a major character in one of those, several years ago. You’d think they’d select someone who was properly famous.
