Okay, I was just thinking about sexy scenes in movies. I’m not necessarily talking about sex scenes, but I’m also not talking about the “Casablanca” airport scene either. I’m talking about the kind of scene that every time you see it your pulse quickens and you think something along the lines of “Hmmm. I need to get some NOW.”
To kick it off, here’s my Top Five list. As you can see, very few, if any, of these are great movies, but these SCENES stand apart for me:
Love scene from “Top Gun”
Love scene with the exploding pillow from “Never Talk to Strangers”
Love scene from “Desperado”
Sex scene between Nick and the shrink in “Basic Instinct”
you’ve obviously not seen The Big Easy with Dennis Quaid and Ellen Barkin.
[sub]ok, so I don’t get out much[/sub], FTR, I’ve seen most of the ones you listed, and IMHO, this one tops it.
I honestly thought most of the movie was pretty weak… but the love scene between Ryan Phillipe and Reese Witherspoon in Cruel Intentions makes my toes curl everytime I see it.
“Big Easy” is a great nomination, wring. I can’t believe that slipped my mind. I also dig the “morning after” scene in that one, where Ellen Barkin gropes Quaid’s kid brother by mistake as he’s leaning into the fridge. Funny!
And what’s sexy for me is sexual tension more than anything else. It makes me tingly, watching people try to hold back from each other.
So one of my favorites, and really a very sexy scene to me is in Remains of the Day…
when Emma Thompson’s character has Anthony Hopkins backed into a corner, trying to pry a book out of his hands that he doesn’t want her to see. She’s all giggly and nonchalant about it, but the look on his face is just love and lust and you think he’s going to tear her apart…
in a good way…of course.
And also, there’s a Kevin Kline movie called French Kiss with Meg Ryan…cute and romantic, but there’s this one scene, fraught with tension, where Meg Ryan is half asleep, dreaming, and she grabs Kevin Kline and kisses him in her sleep, and he’s not sure whether to reciprocate and it’s just so…hot…I love it.
Tension! i love it … [joyology] love it love it love it! [/joyology]
The particular scene I’m thinking of takes place in the desert, in the evening. A vehicle is moving down the road…it might be a Jeep, maybe some car with a sunroof (it was the sex that got me, folx, not the car… ). A woman is standing up in the vehicle, her clothes snapping against the breeze and outlining her figure. mrow A man rubs her thigh, reaches up her skirt and ohmi! brings her to orgasm.
The movie is called The Harvest and is pretty decidely not about sex. (Hint: When I couldn’t remember the name of the movie, I went to the IMDB and looked up “kidneys.”)
Mmmm. Might have to rent it tonight.
Btw, above-mentioned woman played “Roxy” in film #2 from FallenAngel’s list. And I second Chinaco’s nomination of Bound!
You’re all daft. The sexiest scene ever was in Empire Strikes Back, when we first see the Executor, Darth Vader’s command ship. The music, the SIZE, the sheer, rawPOWER!!
I also second the one from Top Gun mentioned in the OP. I have a gut-level reaction every time I watch it.
I’d also like to add the scene in Out of Sight where George Clooney’s in the bathtub; the telephone scene from The Truth About Cats and Dogs; the scene from Exit to Eden where Paul Mercurio is supposed to just sleep on the floor beside Dana Delaney’s bed, but instead gets up on the bed with her; the dance behind the curtain in Strictly Ballroom (“Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps . . .”); the love scene between Andrew McCarthy and Ally Sheedy in St. Elmo’s Fire; and the way Gary Oldman materializes under Winona Ryder’s sheets in Bram Stoker’s Dracula . . .
Mel Gibson and Sigourney Weaver run a roadblock and start making out in the car in “The Year of Living Dangerously.”
I think “sexiest scene” is not necessarily the scene that makes you go “splurt.” You can rent a porno for that. “Sexiest scene” is the scene that makes your date start pawing you in the theater. In other words, romantic.
I do have to agree with this. I loved that scene. Also, probably no one will agree with this, but the “I’m flying scene” from Titanic, as well as the two following scenes (the drawing scene and the sex in the car scene), really got to me.
There is a scene in Point of No Return (bad remake of LeFemme Nakita) where Bridgit Fonda is eating ravioli wtih her boyfriend and ummm back in a sec
Where was I?
Oh yeah. There is a scene in Empire of the Sun where Jim is watching a couple start something and behind him there is a bomb attack going on.
Bound is great yeah.
There is a single shot in ‘The Little Mermaid’ during the Kiss the Girl scene where Ariel looks striaght into the camera. She is not giving him a kiss me look that’s for sure.
From Doc Hollywood (for some reason, I like this movie), when M.J. Fox and Julie Warner are dancing slow at the squash fair. It’s totally romantic, and eventually the music stops, but they keep dancing for a few seconds before Fox says, “The music stopped.” Warner says, “What music?”
I think the scene on the yacht between Tony Curtis and Marilyn Monroe in “Some Like it Hot” is pretty darn sexy, especially when you bear in mind that the two could not stand each other (Monroe refused to rehearse her smooching and Curtis famously remarked that it was “like kissing Hitler”). Yet Marilyn had never looked more gorgeous in a flimsy dress seemingly held on by sheer willpower. When she shows Curtis her best kissing techniques…oh wow!
And Julie Christie and Donald Sutherland deserve a mention for the amazingly uninhibited sex scene in “Don’t Look Now” which made you believe they were a long term married couple who still fancied each other something rotten…
“Bound” is another great choice I’ll go with that one too…
