A dopefest? In my area? Can I go too? I live in San Jose, but going to San Fran to party with fellow Dopers sounds like such fun! Also, if you guys are planning this thing in early September, I can 99% guarantee I can make it.

Yeah, I suspect there’ll be quite a few people around during the whole weekend. After all, some of us actually get to live here.
So, here’s what we’ve got so far then:
Dinner - Saturday September 4th at Buca di Beppo (855 Howard St.) at 6 PM.
I called to make a reservation for 40 people. We can finalize that number a week or so beforehand. The more the merrier. They wanted me to select the menu, but I’m not going to do that, we can order once we are there. Keep in mind that Buca is “family-style” and a large dish can easily feed 5 or more people (they tell me 3 or 4, but in the few times I’ve gone, I’ve found it to be more.)
Drinks and Bar Activities at Buzz 9 (139 8th St.) immediately following dinner (9 or 10-ish PM?)
Those people that said Saturday is out, I’m willing to meet up and do dinner/socializing on Friday night, as is Demo, and probably a few other folks. Should we try to plan something for then as well, or just see how it goes as we get closer?Buzz 9
I could do Friday night as well; I live in the city too. I can always get drunk and piss people off Friday night and then make Saturday filled with uncomfortable silences.
For that, I’d say just wait. Probably not as many people so no need to make reservations so far in advance.
And Buca di Beppo is a good choice – I’ve been there with large crowds before, and they handled it all very well.

I’ve had Ethiopian food. It was very good for about 5 minutes and then the grease started to congeal. I’m sure the dogs barking in the back were only the owners pets, yep, pets.

Well crap! They changed the way we can book our timeshare and we have to go Friday to Friday, so I’m going to have to miss this one entirely. Feh! I was hoping to at least be able to meet up on Friday night, but we should be passing Bun Boy and the Mad Greek by about that time. Sorry cats!
The Bun Boy isn’t worth your time IMHO. I always eat at the Mad Greek ( once for seven days staright when I was staying at Zyzzx ).

Note I said PASSING it, heh. We usually eat lunch in Buttonwillow and just wait until we get to Vegas for dinner. On the way home we sup at Andersen’s Split Pea. Oh yeah!
