I’m not a debater and a damned slow typist so I am starting this post to put my 2cents in about the gun control post in GD.
It seems to me that both sides are forgeting about human nature and the equaling effect a weapon can have. I’m afraid that removing guns would enforce the “might makes right” human trait that shows up as early as early childhood. Who hasn’t taken a toy away from the bigger kid and given it back to the little kid he took it away from.
We tell the big kid that it’s not nice to take things away from the little kid. Does this speech stop him? NO! It is your size that keeps him in line.
If you want to respond to one of the many gun control threads in the Great Debates forum, I suggest you do so in one of the many gun control threads in the Great Debates forum.
I’m locking this.
