Here comes my servant glee, who I sent
On Tuesday last to listen after news.
LORD BARDOLPH
My lord, I overrode him on the way,
And he is furnished with no certainties
More than he haply may retail from me.
…
LORD BARDOLPH
I guess I literally overrode him. Like, trampled. Sorry.

@Mahaloth, if you turn out to be a Villain, I’m going to be very cross with myself.
Calling it now: if Mahaloth also turns out to be Town, dizzymrslizzy is a Villain. Nearly everything dizzy has said in the last hour of this Day sounds like a person who knows both main candidates are Town and is laying the groundwork for next steps.
Glee, Wow, I’m sorry that you felt that way. You did great, and I thought fit in nicely. This was a particularly hard game, and I hope you stick around. Some of us have been playing for years, and on a message board it’s hard to read people.
To all of you newbies, this group of people is so super special, please don’t feel like a stranger, or you don’t fit in. We’d love to get to know you and fold you into our crazy! And I think I speak for most of us when I say that!
At least we have lots more inconclusive data to crunch at the end of today, so yea!
Let’s see, if we started with 4 villains, and two townies go out tonight, we will have lost. Ugh. On the plus side, assuming our vig survives the dagger in the night, they’d have a 40% chance of getting a villain just at random.
If there’s just one villain left, though, we will likely finish the night at 3v1, in which case tomorrow’s exile will be the hinge of fate on which the game will swing.
All right town, let’s get out there and win one for the gleeper!
I hate that you feel that way, and I’m sorry for any part I played in it. One of the things that made me stick after my first game was how incredibly welcoming and mentor-ish everyone was to new players; we should have done a better job of that here.
Please don’t worry - there’s nothing to apologise for. I do enjoy playing (and watching Mafia) and this game was both interesting and fun.
I just felt that there was a strong group dynamic (understandable as many of you had clearly played together) and I couldn’t think how to be part of that.
Once a small bandwagon started on me, I felt the end was nigh (as indeed it was.)
Nevertheless I can still be on the winning team - find those Villains for me!!
I can only speak for myself, but I personnally valued reading your, Demon, and Suns opinion just as much as Story, Angel and Prof. It was what I was trying to get out of Bicycle yesterday. I can’t judge your actions if I don’t know your thoughts.
It’s almost a hinderance to know people in game as well.
It’s like Angel has that Fool me once, shame on you, Fool me twice Shame on me thing. I’m always going to look at her side eye, because I know she’s ruthless when she wants to be.
Mahaloth - I always think is scum man….and 99% of the time I’m 100% wrong. So I look for more evidence there.
Prof and Story I have no real reads on.
but you three threw me the most, because this game was pretty quite, and not many theories flying. It’s hard to catch things when there’s not much there. One game (yeetmas) had a day with 700 posts! LOL
It’s not personal, but sometimes knowing someone gives you a frame of reference. Stick around and we’ll have some “glee always does XYZ” too I’m like Story. I’m horrified you felt that way!!
I think that the hardest thing, in going from watching Mafia games to playing one, is that suddenly nobody trusts you. In the spectators’ thread, you can come up with theories for who the Scum are, and other people might agree or disagree with those theories, but everyone assumes that everyone else is speculating in good faith. For an actual player, though, that’s no longer the case, and people are now questioning not just whether your reasoning is sound, but whether you’re maybe just lying and building an edifice of smoke and mirrors to befuddle everyone. And of course that’s part of the game, but it can be easy to end up taking it personally anyway.
This is my lot in mafia-life and I’ve come to just accept it.
We have an old thread on mafia strategy from a long time ago and you will see my thoughts there, which remain unchained. It’s mainly:
guesswork, not much better than chance
try to look for slips, anti-town behavior, or strange motivations
pray you get a couple scum early, which we got rather lucky doing in this game
If we have 2 scum left, we are doing rather poorly in this game now. If we have one scum left, our odds are reasonable.
Is 2 possible still or would it mainly be game over at this point if that were the case?
@glee - please continue to play with us here or on Giraffeboards. Getting to know the group is just part of the fun and we are very open to new players. Many mentions of group dynamics is because, for reasons unknown, we’ve not played much the past year or so.
