Shameless is (again) the best thing on British TV

Having started a thread to this effect in the first series, I think it’s about time to do it again.
For non-UK residents; it’s a drama with comedic elements, concerning a family on a Manchester council estate. I’m not going to sell it any harder than that as the programme is far more than I could do justice to outside of an essay and clips of the programme.

So British Dopers - are you watching?

Last night;

Frank: Make room - let the blind woman through.
Woman: I’m not blind you cheeky bastard!
Frank : Well what are you dressed like that for?

Do you think Steve will come back? Why did he take the ashtray from Helmet’s house if not to show to Fiona?

Let’s discuss.

You know the next episode’s on straight after on E4, don’t you? So the answers to your questions could be in there. I didn’t watch it, mind you, but there’s bound to be someone on here who did.

So what I think is that Steve took the ashtray because he was leaving and he wanted aphoto of Fiona and also he didn’t want Tony to have a photo of Fiona - even though he has shedloads of them. He’s a tad obsessed, Tony, isn’t he?

Will Steve be back? I hope so.

I hope Kash’s wife is in it more this time as I think she’s a brilliant character. I could live without Marty, he of the arson and Tourette’s Syndrome but I love when Shiela’s in it. Kev and Veronica are excellent as is Debbie. But where’s Liam got to? Has Frank eaten him? I can’t remember seeing him in this series.

Did I mention? I absolutely love Shameless.

So it’s just me and you curly!

I watched the next episode on E4 and without spoiling, thought it was an even better one than this! More funny, more development of Debbie, Carl and Marty, and humiliation of the constabulary. But no return of Steve… yet.

I would like more of Kash and his wife, but Marty is ace! When he was trying to lure the dog and his Tourette’s made him shout “lamb” and “slaughter” I was weak. And last week I couldnt figure how they’d square Marty saying that Kev had asked him for a wank - but they did! in a romantic way too!!

I think the kid who plays Ian is awesome.

I am besotted with Sheila and would be prepared to undergo her dildo fetish for a trial period.

Overall, the best thing on TV

BTW Liam was on the stairs when they were all packing to leave. I guess there may be rules about little kid actors being around all the swearing drinking sex and drugs.

I havent seen the viewing figures but it’s more than 2!!

I’m going to attempt to keep this thread high in order for British dopers to join in - if they don’t - let it die - curly and I know we’re right!

MiM

I can tell you one thing though, Stretford, where they live, is not at all like as it is portrayed

[fake British accent]“So, what’s a council estate, then?”[/fBa]

Where can a yank like me watch this show?

It’s not on BBC America.

Ah well, guess I’ll have to wait 5 years for the good shows, like usual…

:dubious:

:stuck_out_tongue:

Think ‘housing projects’, and you’re on the right lines.
