Why Thank You! I am quite enjoying myself here! Lots o’ fun! Now if I could get away with this at work…don’t think the boss would like it nor IT…we get watched all the time…
Kittenblue, thanks for the link! I wear silk longjohns while hunting and if I have to work outdoors in the winter, and I love them. It would be nice to have some that don’t look so utilitarian.
Well, I called them up, and they very happily gave me an adjustment ($3 might not mean much to you, but it sure does to me!) and told me my order should arrive tomorrow. So, their service has been great so far…can’t wait to check out the product, and especially to see how their sizes run. I’ll search later for the original thread that sent me to them, so I can thank the Doper who recommened them.
I bought Claudia Handpaints sock yarn in Begonia, Butter Pecan, and Pistachio from Pick Up Sticks:

The shipping from Canada to the USA is slow, but this website has one of the best selections of handpainted sock yarn I’ve ever found.
A paediatric stethoscope. A red one, so it doesn’t ‘accidentally’ get mixed up with the ward stock.

I bought this in arctic white. Happy? Mostly, yes. Smaller, lighter, sleeker, like the new button arrangement and the bluetooth radio is a boatload better than the 650. (My Jabra BT800 headset now shows who’s calling for a change) The battery life stinks pretty seriously, though. Hopefully they’ll come out with a higher capacity battery that still fits under the standard battery cover. There’s a 2400mAh battery but it has a humpy enlarged cover to fit the larger battery, and that’s ugly and uncomfortable. I think they can make an 1800mAh battery that fits with the regular back. Would I buy again? Well, probably not; I don’t expect I’ll want a new Treo any time soon. Was it worth what I paid? Well, yeah … to me. Now MindWife can have the 650. She doesn’t use a BT headset so it’s good.
I got this hard drive, actually a replacement for a smaller one that I had bought in December and was out of stock. And right after Christmas I got the B5 Movie Collection and a Travel Writer’s guide for fun. Now I really want to pick up the second season of Stargate SG-1, since I just finished the first season. But need to wait a month or so before I can.
My wife’s a horror-movie nut; for Christmas I got her this t-shirt. The price and quality are fine; the shipping was a little slow, but it came from Canada, so it’s understandable.
I also took a 30-second Quicktime video of her and had it printed into a flipbook at www.flipclips.com. Price: excellent. Shipping time: also excellent. Quality: about a 6, sad to say. I can’t quite describe the problem, but the book doesn’t “flip” as smoothly as one would like. Still, it’s a pretty cool gift.
It’s not that it’s from Canada, it’s the lack of braaaaaiiinnssss that’s the problem.
That is a really neat idea. I’m going to forward it to my friends.
I got my shirt from CafePress today, in the regular Canada Post delivery. It was in a plastic bag that was small enough to fit in my apartment mailbox and save me a trip across the road to the post office to pick it up.
The CafePress opaque printing appears to be of good quality, and seems more ‘porous’ than some of the shirts I’ve had, where the ink was a solid sheet on the fabric. The solid sheet of ink tended to crack after a while; hopefully this will be more flexible.
The edges of the design were slightly blurry, equivalent to maybe a half-millimetre of antialiasing. I’ll experiment with another design at a higher resolution; I exported this one out of Illustrator as a raster at 150 dots per inch. The design was black on yellow; I’d designed it to be printed on white, so the black was actual black ink. This was printed overtop of the yellow, and I suspect accounted for a lot of the blurriness. When I do another one, I’ll ‘punch’ the black through to leave holes where the black fabfic can show through.
The shirt itself seems to be of good quality. The line item for it on the packing slip included a little picture of the design. And there was a piece of paper explaining that there may be a slight outline around the artwork in the shirt, but that that would disappear after the first wash. Please wash your shirt inside out in cold water.
It is now in the laundry.
I bought two toys from Ebay. I received Mr. Bumper already and he is completely awesome.
I’m waiting for Cathy Cowgirl (link not 100% work safe)
Wow. That is so disturbing.
This shirt and a copy of this album (can’t find the exact e-bay link, but the same album… And don’t ask… the song was stuck in my head).
But, in a cool way?
A Glow In the Duck.
It was for a secret santa so I can’t ask the recipient how well it works.
This, for the feline overlords. I’ve been reading about how to train them out of some of their bad behaviors, and when I decided to shop for a scratching post, I knew exactly what I wanted.* It had to be covered in sisal fabric, not rope, and had to be at least two feet high. I found plenty of those, all priced at about fifty dollars and up…and then I found these! Thirty dollars and free shipping.
*Incidentally, this is why I have such a miserable time shopping. I always know exactly what I want, and it either can’t be found or I don’t want to pay what it costs. Grrr!
Someone on another message board that I frequent gave me an extremely appreciated heads-up that the dillweeds at Harper-Collins have decided to “update” the Laura Ingalls Wilder books for a new generation by completely repackaging the paperback editions. They are replacing the covers with actual live color *photographic * covers, and removing the inside art by Garth Williams!!! Mary, Laura, and Baby Carrie wept!
So I ordered a set of the old version before they are gone.
That’s it. I’m buyin’ a gun.
Its ‘pinewood derby’ time at our house again, and my son was very frustrated that the fact that he hasn’t made even the semi-semi finals in the past 4 years.

My weekend is booked.
Count Blucher, Cub Scouts? Fun stuff, I remember making my own back in elementary school and helping kids make them when I was in High School.
Well, due to health concerns I purchased this today: Sanity in a click
I bought several books
A Suitable Boy
Trinity
One Hundred Years of Solitude
Brother Odd
A Canticle for Leibowitz
I’d provide links, but I got them from a Barnes & Noble Reseller I am not thrilled with.
I also bought a lifetime subscription to this: librarything.com and even created an SMDB book group.
