Share the two most intellectually interesting websites you know.

I don’t know how this goes with the message board’s rules, but I have to share these two websites with you and invite you to do the same.

1- RationalWiki The name is pretty self-explanatory. Check it out please.

2- New-Age Bullshit Generator This is a “New Age Bullshit Generator”. You click on the “Reionize Electrons” at the top of the page and you will get a new-age bullshit article. It’s really funny.

  1. http://www.edge.org - Mission statement: To arrive at the edge of the world’s knowledge, seek out the most complex and sophisticated minds, put them in a room together, and have them ask each other the questions they are asking themselves.

  2. http://www.aldaily.com - Links to articles, books, and essays&opinion from all over the web, updated daily. Love the straightforward interface. I don’t read every single thing they link to, but but it’s a huge variety and range of content from all over and almost all of it is above-par compared with the typical “aggregate” type site, IMHO.

Nice. Thank you!

Also, wikipedia.

http://www.skepdic.com/ - The Skeptic’s Dictionary. It single-handedly debunks nearly all pseudo-scientific claims.

That’s all I have for right now.

Nautilus.

Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy:

Site that has videos of guest lectures given at Princeton (menu in top left corner):

I’m going to add a vote for Wikipedia. The information may be questioned, but for sheer availability of some information, it can’t be beat.

My second selection would be www.deadoraliveinfo.com. Not because DOA itself is useful, but because if you are interested in the individuals listed the site references news sites or Wikipedia for more info. I’ll accept that DeadOrAlive may not be intellectually stimulating, but it’s on my primary bookmark list to provide a reference to more biographical material, which I do find intellectually worthwhile.

This is really helpful. Thank you.

I like the idea of Rational Wiki more than I do the execution. The Sceptic’s Dictionary might be more my thing, I’ll have to see.

Another vote for edge.org. And this one gives you a smorgasbord of delights.

Quora is a collection of smart answers from (some) intellectual and (some) tech leaders but it’s way better that Facebook Buzzfeeds!

For a variety of topics to play with (in your mind) I’ve enjoyed spending time at RinkWorks
