“Ken” is commonly used. I think we even had a thread on it not long ago. But “The Internet” is far from any consensus. Google “Make Karen” and you will find whole bunches of candidates.

Ugh. Unbelievable. I had to go to Walgreens for an Rx. As I posted before, the chain refuses to enforce the governor’s mask mandate, even though they have a big sign saying masks are mandatory. Sure enough, there’s an idiot in there without a mask. The pharmacy tech was wearing a mask BELOW HER NOSE.

I asked if they mailed prescriptions, and she said yes, but this Rx wouldn’t qualify because it has to be refrigerated. I said, “Oh. Darn. I don’t like coming in here because people come in without masks or [significant look at her face] wear them incorrectly.” She then pulled the mask onto her nose, leaned toward the plexiglass barrier and said, “Most masks don’t do any good anyway.”

There’s a Rite Aid about 1.5 miles from me (I have to walk.), but they don’t enforce the mask rule, either. I never heard back from Walgreens corporate.

Isn’t there some pharmacy near you with a drive-through?

Or a Walmart with a pharmacy. I’ve heard they are going with mask rules for real.

Due to vision issues, I can’t drive. I wish there was such a thing as walk-throughs.

If the corporate office seemed uninspired to do anything, it’s time to contact the county public health office.

I agree! Contact Jay Inslee, nelliebly. Tell him we sent you! He’s close enough; maybe he’ll go in for you and have a word with them!

I thought of this, but it turns out that while the governor issued an executive order mandating masks, it didn’t include businesses refusing service to customers. The order was later amended to give the businesses the right to refuse service to non-mask-wearing customers but doesn’t require they do so. I doubt the county public health office would do anything.

I guess I’ll contact the governor and ask him to mandate businesses to refuse to allow customers in the store without masks and to maybe fine those that allow employees to leave their noses or mouths uncovered.

This shouldn’t be this hard.

Isn’t there some way you can walk through the drive-through? Or call the pharmacy and explain, and tell them you want curbside pickup? (At the front door?)

Not sure about walking through the drive-through. I could try it. They don’t offer curbside pickup, but maybe I’ll call and ask the manager to make an exception in my case, since he apparently has no issue making exceptions for everyone not wearing masks.

The Walgreens here started offering delivery a few months ago- check with the store to see if they will?

Yep - CVS here is advertising that they’ll deliver. This is a very new thing hereabouts; when I lived in NYC in the early 1990s, I routinely had prescriptions delivered which was great.

What do you all think of my plot to photograph the maskless and share the photos on Facebook? Would that get me sued?

People in public spaces have no right to photographic privacy. Doesn’t mean they might not threaten to sue, though. The solution for them would be for them to hide their faces with a mask!

It might get you worse than sued. Harassed, stalked, vandalized comes to mind. Mean-spirited people can do that to you without getting caught.

To sue you they would have to put out big bucks to a lawyer. Less likely to happen than them resorting to the above.

Posting their picture on FB won’t change their mind, just wind them up more. Ignore them and instead post flattering pictures of people wearing masks-catch those people being good, positively reinforcing the behavior you want.

Riteaid delivers too

Why must the name be gender-specific? They can all be “Karen” as far as I’m concerned.

Love it!

Oh, delivery would be great! I’ll call tomorrow and inquire. Odd that the pharmacy tech didn’t mention it when I said I didn’t want to have to enter the store.

You probably need to request delivery through their app, or at least online via your account. The option to have stuff delivered from CVS appeared for me a couple months ago. (Or at least that’s when I noticed it) Ticked the delivery box, hit Submit, and a day later, I got the pills by mail for no extra charge. They do also have a same-day option, but that’s not free. At the urging of my insurance plan, I get my 90-day fills through a different mail-order pharmacy, so I actually don’t need to go to a pharmacy very often…

Brilliant! (except they’d probably wear a domino mask)
