At some point, does triage start to favor the gallstone person over the anti-vaxxer? I have no idea how to accomplish it. I don’t believe that anti-vaxxer should get a bed over someone in a car accident or with a ruptured appendix. Failing a good way to triage folks, there need to be consequences for refusing to get vaccinated. Convenience fees? Mandatory vaccination to use public facilities? Some sort of brightly colored cone of shame?
The subreddits leopardsatemyface and hermancainaward are chock full of these stories, with endings usually considered either tragic or hilarious, depending on your point of view.
I must have missed this one until now. It reminds me of a piece of idiocy that was going around in my circles at a couple of different times last year (I know a lot of people who are religious). I don’t remember the exact wording, but it went something like–
“Jesus healed lepers instead of quarantining from them.”
I replied, “If you have divine power to miraculously heal people, then by all means go among the Covid sufferers.”
I can’t decide if I have sympathy or not. I certainly do not want to see this guy die but he has only himself to blame:
(I was told there has been an update that the person in the article above has been moved to comfort care meaning he has come to the end of his rope and is likely to die.)
After reading about his anti-mask crusade, I can’t muster up a drop of sympathy. Fucking idiot.
That Republicans are quite able to talk out of both sides of their ass at the same time is a skill I noticed years ago. It would be fascinating to watch if it weren’t so harmful.
(I haven’t been following this thread, but this seemed like a good place for this.)
For your Christmas shopping list-
You are nicer than me. My mind was made up by the time I finished the second paragraph. I hope he fucking dies and his family ends up homeless. Perhaps that’s the sort of thing that might get through to their fellow Covidiots.
Maybe, but doubtful. I watched a video of people in a hospital in Arkansas (I think) who had covid and asked if they would get the vaccine said no. Literally suffering from the disease, seeing people die daily, and they still think the vaccine is worse.
Edit: I found the video:
Now if they could get de-wormer in the hospital, that’d be different.
On topic, sister-in-law has gotten her first shot after refusing for months. Why? What was the sudden revelation? Resturants in Hawaii are asking for vaccination proof, she and husband (who is vaccinated) like to eat out a lot. Therefore, vaccinations are now needed. Forget disease, she needs to dine out.
Reminds me of a study about warning people about the dangers of tanning. Warning about skin cancer doesn’t change behaviour – but warning about premature wrinkles does.
Dead.
I followed that link to the GoFundMe page ($43,647 raised of $20,000 goal); he was the sole wage earner for his family (wife, three daughters and another on the way). Surely when one has five dependents, one ought to reduce risks as much as possible. I assume he was a careful driver, didn’t go skydiving on the weekends and didn’t play drunken Russian roulette. So why wouldn’t he wear a mask when out of the home and by get the vaccine at the first opportunity?
Downright negligent. Ego is a helluva thing.
From his wife:
“He didn’t want to see a doctor, because he didn’t want to be part of the statistics with COVID tests.”
Now he is a part of COVID statistics.
The irony never stops:
This guy I truly have zero sympathy for.
I’ve also heard that telling men that smoking can cause erectile dysfunction leads to a much higher quitting rate than telling them that it can cause heart disease and lung cancer.
Back to our regularly scheduled programming, Arkansas governor Asa Hutchinson is a covidiot in his own right.
I’m glad he’s gone. Lives have probably been saved by his death. Hopefully his loving wife has seen the light because children raised by the government usually report many, many bad times.
I think monoclonal treatment is legit but you are waaaaaay better off having been vaccinated.
Right you are! Monoclonal is legit but it’s better to be vaccinated and never need it. It’s either an IV infusion or 4 good sized IM shots and thousands of dollars vs less than a hundred (the feds pay for both) for a vaccine.
