But I am not sure what argument someone who says that is making. That once a person reaches the average life expectancy (about 79 in the US) we can all stop caring about them? I wonder how the person saying that would feel once they reach 79? Logan’s Run but for senior citizens?
Actually, I suspect that many of them would find some difficulty finding new jobs with similar compensation, both because of the usual age-discrimination issues and because most major employers are only too glad to require vaccination to keep their share of the insurance cost down, with the administration’s executive order providing them cover.
I assume it’s a private school, so they may have some leeway about denying kids access. But if it’s a school parents had to pay for, I hope they (any sensible parents) withdraw their kids and get their money back.
Also, if you click through and read only as far as this quote:
An infectious disease expert who spoke with WSVN characterized that belief as “science fiction.”
You should read further and see that the person being quoted did go on to say, no, not science fiction, just plain fiction. Because, of course, no science is involved.
I was going to quibble, but the full quote took care of it.
I continue to be surprised at the levels of stupidity people can reach, and others go along with.
Ah, yes, this is Centner Academy, an expensive private school run by over-the-top rabid anti-vax Covid hoaxers. From an article last April, they also refuse to hire any vaccinated teachers or staffers:
Regarding the school that requires vaccinated kids to stay home for thirty days post-vaccine administration, what is their requirement for kids who get COVID, or test positive or have an exposure to someone who has it?
You know it’s bad when the governor, previously called out as an idiot for banning vaccine mandates at public universities etc thinks these people are idiots.
In a statement issued after the vote, Sununu said the “vote showed a reckless disregard for the lives we are losing while they turn away the tools our state needs to fight and win this battle against COVID.”
Speaking to reporters later in the day, Sununu said he pushed fellow-Republican councilors to support the contracts as hard as he could, but described the party-line vote against the money as driven by disinformation.
“At the end of the day, there was no rational, logical reason to say ‘no’ to these contracts,” Sununu said. "Every argument that the council attempted to bring up was shot down immediately.”
And it turns out we have at least 170 ordinary citizens hoping to show their asses too, yay.
About 170 protestors filled the public section of the room. They made their opinions known early on in the meeting when federal funding for case management for refugees 60 years and older was discussed. Some protestors shouted they did not want refugees in New Hampshire.
What they actually did was reject federal money to create certain vaccine-related state employment positions. While they probably did it for the wrong reasons, I have to say I’m skeptical that spending $17 Million to create more bureaucracy was really going to lead to greater COVID vaccination in the state. As has been pointed out many times, anybody who wants a vaccine can already get one, and anybody left is unlikely to be convinced by any efforts or information coming from the government.
I will let my company know we can stop advertising and promotion now that 99% of people in our market are aware of our product, pricing and service. The stockholders are going to be chuffed!
Really, all the information they need will come from their friends on facebook, who post anti-vax memes that they saw somewhere, created by the Russian disinformation campaign. It’s all good.
Just leave it to Facebook. Everything will be alright. They have our best interests at heart, and will surely do the right thing. There is no place for government to provide correct information to the public about a public health crisis.
