I love Netflix. Love it, love it, love it. I’ve been a member since January and have rented some wonderful movies for my children, and some movies I’ve wanted to see for a long, long time for my husband and I. I love the convenience, I love the wonderful search feature, I like the recommendations and the speed is utterly awesome. I love being able to change the order any time the mood strikes me.

Recently a distribution center was added 70 miles away and I have a two-day turnaround between me sending a movie back and getting a fresh one. I do wish they’d ship on holidays however; I didn’t plan exactly right and was movie-less over the Memorial Day holiday.

That said, here’s what’s on my list. Some I don’t remember why they’re there. Some I’ve seen. Share yours and get some good ideas!

Oh <pout> won’t anyone play?

Do you have only movies listed you haven’t seen? Stuff you want to see again? How television heavy is your list?

Bump-a-roo!

It’s too time-consuming to strip out all the extra stuff I get when I cut and paste the list. I’m a regular Netflixer though.

Hm, yes you’re right about that. I spent a while copying it into Notepad and then pasting it from there to here.

Ah well, another good idea that died on the vine… :o

So how good is Netflix on turn-around time now??

I was a regular member back in 2000-2001 and I ended up quitting because of the extremely slow turn-around time. It was to the point where I could only end up with 3 rentals each month, which just wasn’t worth it.

Yowza. Guess that was the early days. I manage about 12 movies a month. 2-3 day shipping time.

The DVDs from our queue that we both want to watch:

Star Trek: DS9: Season 1
Star Trek: DS9: Season 2
The Quiet Man
The Philadelphia Story
The Shop Around the Corner
The Rutles

that I put in:

Topsy-Turvy ( Very Long Wait & Out of Print )
Gigantic: A Tale of Two Johns
Jeeves and Wooster: Season 1
Father Ted: Series 1
Gormenghast
Ballykissangel: Series 1
Ballykissangel: Series 2
Only Fools and Horses: Series 1
Incredible Adventures of Wallace & Gromit
Creature Comforts
Monk: Season 1

  • That my husband put in:*

  8. Rain Man
  9. City Lights
  10. The Crime of Father Amaro

Can’t frickin’ wait for City of God…

Am I the only loser with 60 titles in the awaiting release section? I like to get on the list early, as if you couldn’t tell. A good amount of the movies I have on there don’t even come out in theaters until late summer. I have experimented with this, my friend also has an account and we compared wait times. I usually get a title that releases on tuesday shipped out on the monday before.

Here’s my queue:

The West Wing: Season 1
Swimming to Cambodia
Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner
The Parallax View
Labyrinth
American Movie
The Royal Tenenbaums
The Kids in the Hall: Season 1
The Fog of War
Angels in America
MST 3000: Merlin’s Shop
MST 3000: Boggy Creek II
This Is Spinal Tap
SCTV Network 90: Vol. 1

I think I’ll be adding some things to it based on what I see in this thread. Somehow, I can never think of what movies come out that I’d like to see.

I just signed up last week, my first movies should be here tomorrow and I’m kind of excited.
My list is slanted a bit towards silent films and old movies (thanks to Eve and some others on the SDMB).

This is only the first part of my Netflix Queue. Some of these titles I put up over a year ago and because I keep adding more stuff, I never get to see them. Some of these movies I can’t even remember why I listed them. But I will say, some of them are for family members or are “actor specific.” (For instance, there’s a really crappy horror movie listed—that’s because Lance Henrickson is in it. Another one has Michael York. The Charlie’s Angels pilot has Tommy Lee Jones in it. And so on.)

Here’s a weird classic many might consider: The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover.

I only have about 20 in my queue, but I still hardly have time to watch the ones I have out.

You people that have 50+ titles in the queue, do you have them organized in any way? I’d really like it if Netflix had a “randomize queue” feature so I didn’t have to think about what I wanted to see next. Anyone know?

Heh. I’ve got 100 or so movies in my queue, and they are pretty much ordered in the manner in which I thought of them. I think of a movie I want to see, and plunk it in there. When I was going through the 14 disc Monty Python set, I tried to space them out every couple of discs so I wouldn’t go insane. But otherwise, I just let 'em come as they are.

I think I might reorder things more if you could click & drag instead of renumbering. The numbering thing just doesn’t seem as user friendly when you want to reorder several. Okay, #10 is now #8, but if I want to see #11 before that, do I make it #7
