Sharks at the Tables, Lab Girls on the Rails - SDMB World Poker Tour 1st QTR 2007

Hey, it looks fine to me.

Or maybe not. GO?

It may not be an error. I’m pretty sure the formula grants a certain number of points for each finish, and then averages each players points for the number of games they’ve played. Maybe 2nd place out of 6 is only worth about 72 points.

Game is up.

I think.

Results tonight for our (rapidly contracting) weekly diversion:

1 Naughty Nookie
2 Krabby Kyy
3 (something that starts with “O”) Oslo
4 Angsty Ast
5 Dang Nab Dag

Where the hell are Duke, Missy, and the rest of you?

Standings for the quarter:

Yeticus Rex 74.0
Dag Otto 71.0
Asterion 68.4
Robot Arm 61.7
Duke of Rat 58.5
Kyyrewyyoae 50.6
Oslo Ostragoth 44.7
Miss Take 44.3
Nanook of the North 39.0

I fired up my computer at ten minutes 10 10:00. I launched the poker client and it had to upgrade itself (apparently to a new company/skin). I launched that new client, and it had to upgrade. By the time I got things running, the game had started.

I should be back next week. Congrats, Nook.

The Kid was online, but I booted her off at 830. I got all comfy, started to sign onto the 'net…

And nuttin. Could not get the cute little password box to come up at all. No net for Missy. Was on the phone with Qwest for over an hour and they couldn’t figure out the problem either. Until I mentioned I cannot load SP2. Micro$oft says I have a jacked XP. Uhh, no. I don’t. Suddenly that’s the problem. I guess. Why it went to hell in the 3 minute space of the Kid logging off and my logging on, I dunno.

I finally was up and moving… after the game was over. Dammit.

Staff meeting, needy kids, needy wife, picked up dinner, laundry, dishes…8pm PST by the time I was done. Been a really rough week thus far.

BTW…18 y.o. son wrecked his car last week and got a broken ankle from the brake pedal. Mix that with his first week of college night classes, constant need for food, water, getting in and out of bed for body functions, along with handling the crap from the insurance company, the tow yard, the doctors, X-rays, cat scan, and possible surgery this Monday (on a holiday!), then you got one busy Yeti. I will still shoot for next Thursday though.

Ow, Yeti. On another downer note, some of us are getting short on funds, and since last night was a pretty quick game, Dag and ast and I looked into it. Apparently it is impossible for US players to fund the site. So we will have to find a new funding system, or a new site, or find a place to play our little game with play money. :frowning:

I am now out of money, and this is going to get worse before it gets better (goddamn politicians.) Anyway, I humbly suggest we do what we used to do at PokerRoom. For anyone who wasn’t there or doesn’t remember, we find a site that allows private play-money games. That could be tricky these days–PokerRoom was one of the few that I know of that allowed it and these days I’m not sure you can even go play-money on it with a US IP addy. I’ll look into it.

Anyway, we approximate a tourney as best we can. Everyone sits down as close to simultaneously as possible. We play with the blinds at that table for 10-15 minutes (whatever we feel like) then all stand up and go to a different private table that has been created with higher blinds. Buy-in was I believe 1000 chips, as I think that’s what you could reload into your play account every week. The plus side is that we could also get some players back (especially if we went through PokerRoom, as their instant-play deal has support for all OSes.) Heck, if we just want to play poker, we could even just play cash games anyway. On the plus side, we could even expand our game out some–NL Texas Hold’Em is nice, but it’d be fun to play stud or Omaha or pineapple or razz or even badugi (we’d have to go through Doyle’s Room for that one.)

My son is lucky…no bone chip in the ankle. No surgery, just a knee high cast for 3 weeks and a re-evaluation. He now can get out of bed for longer periods of time, including his classes, thankfully.

As for our poker future, not so lucky I guess. It seems bedridden with sores. Ouch.

By the way, Crazy has freeroll tourneys and SnG’s available to pick up a little cash, provided you are patient enough and good enough to place in the money.

So what’s the plan for tonight?

I haven’t checked, but the game should be up. I created it last week.

I deleted my poker room account, but I’ll reload the software if you guys want to go that way.

As of now, I’m the only one signed up to play tonight.

If anyone needs funds I could probably float a few bucks - do a nickel table or whatever.

Is it impossible to do a straight player-to-player transfer? Because I’m all out of cash.

They want you to fax them all kinds of identification, including a copy of a utility bill.
IMO they don’t need all that - it’s P2P, shouldn’t be a big deal, but they make it so.
I’m just not comfortable giving out too much information.

Okay. I’ll eventually cash in a freeroll–I’m signed up for the 10:30 PM 7-card stud one, and then we can work from there.

Results

1: Nook
2: Oslo(Nook)
3: Botto(Nook)
4: Root(Nook)
5: Kyy(Nook)
6: Missy(Nook)

Amazing run I’ve had these last two weeks. Winning both, knocking out every single person. Almost, but not quite, up to Duck standards.
