Didn’t see a thread on this, which I find a little surprising.
I only managed to catch the first half (until the news), but was pleasantly surprised. Some decent laughs, and Al looked pretty comfortable out there. Plus, seems he can sing.
It was the funniest SNL that they’ve had in a long time. With the exception of the taxi cab skit, all of the skits managed to make me laugh. My favorite was the Michael Jackson-roller coaster bit and “Al Sharpton’s Sushi”.
The guy definitely has a sense of humor, if nothing else.
Surprisingly good. Other than the painful Jacko bit, all the skits managed to make me laugh. Sharpton as Ryan Fellows was hilarious, as was his song and dance at the start of the show. The opening segment (equal-time opportunities for other candidates) was also very good.
The cab sketch was horrible but just about everything else was funny. The sketch where they are making the black and white movie was funny, especially if you’ve watched any of those. His complaining about the stereotyping and prejudice but telling the woman to quiet was classic.
I was surprised at how well he could dance, laughed at the “other” contenders sketch, and at Paris Hilton showing up on WU … as well as the jokes at the affiliates who wouldn’t show it’s expense
It really was quite funny - maybe the best show this season ?
Hey, did anyone else think, when Sharpton said something about “forgetting the past” in the monologue, and somebody yelled out “The hell you say!,” that they were going to bring on Steve Pagones?
Oh man, that’s messed up! I was sure Al Sharpton was going to be hosting, and I was looking forward to it. As I tuned in I also got the best of Steve Martin. I thought it was odd that a “best of” show was being played in the middle of the season. That pisses me off.
The network never hesitated to show other political host appearances like Forbes, Giuliani, or Dole. Is this part of the vast right wing conspiracy?
Damn red state.
I’m guessing eventually it will re-air on Comedy Central, I hope, I hope.
Here in Boston it was also the “Best of Steve Martin”.
Who knows, maybe by the time NBC will rerun the Sharpton episode, he will have dropped out of the race and they can safely show it without candidates demanding equal time.
I only saw the opening scene with the song and dance (great bit, who knew he had those moves?) and the Michael Jackson thing. I thought he was funny, but that he was looking at the camera too often and not reacting to the other actors like he should’ve.
I was dying during the “3 Wise Men” bit…Jimmy Fallon shining the torch in their faces? Angel Dust? Incense and Gold in their saddle bags, going to see some guy whos name they don’t know?
