Oh yes, if you shave it down to fuzzies, lots of girls will want to pet yer head. Perk!
Hmmm…musta missed that one. Link?
Oh, and fellow head shaver here, too. I use a mach 3 for the old noggin and for my goatee. And ladies who want to give me a rub are more than welcome
With all due respect, gentlemen, since I really don’t mean to offend anyone here (I’m only expressing personal taste) – and maybe I’m in the minority where women are concerned, but –
I don’t find men with shaven heads to be even slightly attractive physically. Quite the contrary, in fact. I think it’s much sexier when a man’s hair is long enough so that I’d be able to run my fingers through it while we…
well, you get the picture.
Thank you for letting me express my opinion.
I too started shaving my head over ten years ago. I did it to reject fashion and to become less vain. It’s stupid to worry about looks and fret over hair. Now I keep it within an inch or two long,or a neat fade. I don’t like to shave it anymore.
It’s funny though. While trying to reject I became part of a trend…
I shaved my head for a while, starting February of '01. It lasted about a month, since my parents hated the look and complained a lot. Since I’m white and my hair is black, stubble was visible, which surely didn’t look as good as it could’ve. It was interesting, though: I remember the day I did it, I walked near a light from my dorm that was a little above head-level and felt the heat coming from it. That was interesting.
It’s only a bit longer now (2 on my razor, same length as my goatee). I like it a lot this way. I shave it once every week to 10 days - just did it tonight, actually - and it’s definitely saved me some money. I probably haven’t had a haircut in at least a year. I like it very short, so with the price of haircuts these days (even for something as simple as what I do), I bet I’ve saved myself over $100.
My girlfriend likes it too (she enjoys rubbing the fuzz :)). My mother has started to complain again, as she did about the shaved-ness and when I had it buzzed to 1. I admit she happened to be right earlier, but enough is enough, and she’s very annoying. It’s not a good example of a side benefit, but it’s sort of fun to tell her in very explicit terms that her fashion advice is not required.
Shaved heads on guys =
for me. Very sexy.
Sorry Yersinia, I agree with Cosmopolitan, shaved heads are fine and dandy. As long as it looks good on that particular guy, but especially if it makes him happy, go for it.
I also find it fascinating that there’s special razors and sunscreen, who’dathunkit?
Also, to hijack just a little more, do guys like or dislike people touching their heads? I keep my hands to myself because I figure it must get annoying having strangers, girls mostly right?, rub your head. Then again a lot of guys might not mind having girls run their hands over their scalps!
That’s okay, Yersinia. I’ve been surprised by just how many women do think baldness is sexy. Maybe a lot of them are just being nice? I’d like to hear more female opinions.
Oh, and I wouldn’t complain if a woman rubbed my head, BadBaby, even a stranger. Just don’t get carried away–it’s not a toy.
Unless you want it to be.
(Hm… I don’t think I’d mind a guy touching it either.)
All I know is that Andre Agassi looks REALLY drool good like that; he should have done it ages ago.
Andre’s probably why I did it, actually. (Not an attraction thing, I’m a tennis nut and he’s been my favorite player forever.) I think he’s been doing it since about '99. Sure made him a lot of money in razor endorsements.
They shave their heads because they’re Free. Well, at least that’s the excuse I gave in a short story I wrote years back about shaven headed guys.
My husband has to keep his hair short for the air force but he doesnt do it anything remotely shaved like. Except once when he accidently got it really short and it looked ugly on him. I’ve never been into bald guys. I was always into LONG haired guys!
I think some men do it for the intimidation factor.
I agree that this belongs in GQ, but MIPSIMS is hardly the place for technical questions.
I think MPSIMS is a fine spot for this thread.
This isn’t a technical question, and there is no factual answer as to why some people voluntarily shave their heads. If someone were to ask why some chemo patients lose their hair, that would be a GQ topic that has specific answers.
I suppose one could argue that IMHO might be a better choice, but general chatter fits well enough.
Not trying to troll, just wanted to say.
Yes. I bought this shaver about 6-8 months ago and am still on the original set of blades.
Hey SexyHamster:
IMHO probably is the best place. What Aslan2 pointed out was that MPSIMS was the place “…for questions of a technical nature…” which isn’t correct.
HarryC: I promise, I’m done hijacking your thread.
Ah, that makes more sense. I understood Aslan2’s “this” as refering back to GQ. All clear like mud now.
I too, will go away now. :smack:
No, this thread was in ATMB. It was moved.
