So, folks, help me out on this one. Why is it that those “lubra-smooth” strips on razors are ABOVE the blades instead of below them. Wouldn’t it be better for the strip to be BELOW the blades so that it can lubricate the skin before the blades come along and tear the hell out of things? I’ve often wondered about this.
Actually, it is supposed to sooth the skin after the blade runs over it.
So, then, wouldn’t it be a “sootha-smooth” strip instead of a “lubra-smooth” strip?
I’d use a very dull, rusty razor in your case. Quit worring about a smooth shave…won’t do you any good shit fer brains. And while your at it, tie a burlap bag filled with rocks around your neck…no big loss.

feel free to move this to the pit…I’m ornery.
Wow - what’s up with all the Manchurian Candidate posts lately?
Perhaps, Boscibo, you’ld like to pass the time by playing a game of Solitaire.
As to the OP - I think USCDiver is right, but I also think the stupid strips don’t work worth a damn anyways.
Boscibo, being “ornery” is no excuse. If you wish to level attacks against another poster, then do so in a thread in the Pit started for that purpose. I’m leaving this thread here, since the rest of the thread is legitimate. Do not do this again.
I’m sorry, Chronos. I won’t do it again. I’m sorry KF-a-CH for screwing up your thread.

Funny, you don’t look Irish.
Welcome to the SDMB, Chin.
I’ve always figured that the low-friction strip is above the blade because you want more friction below the blade, which causes it to apply a stretching force to your skin, which helps it shave better. At least I have the impression that if I pull my skin taut with my free hand, it shaves closer. I’m skeptical about whether the strip does any good.
BTW, since I started shaving in the shower, a blade typically lasts me months.
Its a big conspiracy with the bandaid company!!!
