On my Gillette razor there is a little white strip (I think they call it a “comfort strip”). It dissolves a little when it gets white and gives the shave kind of a slimy feel. Anyone know what this stuff is?

no, seriously, I think in some of them, it’s some sort of moisturiser, sometimes with Aloe Vera, the rest are probably just anything slippery, like Xanthan Gum or something.

Although there’s still gotta be some base in which those ingredients are held, my money is still on some sort of gum.
In addition…“The Indicator lubricating strip contains aloe and vitamin E to soften skin”.
According to this.

Couldn’t resist. I think that the other folks here have it nailed, it’s supposed to make the shock to the skin a bit more palatable. For those of you who may be allergic, I do believe that there are still some brands of twin blade shavers that do NOT use those lubed strips.
