We might be disagreeing on this point. If it’s relevant, I’ll bring it up. As noted, in a thread where Martin Hyde shows support for any treatment of homosexuals in any manner other than equality, I’ll happily point to his post, as well as the study showing the link between homophobia and repressed homosexual tendencies, to show why I have a problem with his stance. In a thread about political candidates, not so much, unless he posits that one of them is a closeted/repressed gay. I don’t recall if he weighed in on that crazy dude that supposedly had limo sex with Obama, but under certain circumstances, that might warrant inclusion as well.
Unless there is something that we haven’t covered yet, I’m leaning towards leaving this hijack alone, as I think it’s been brought up enough, and have nothing else to contribute to it.
Good lord, is this retarded thread still going on???
And Shodan, for the life of me I cannot figure out what the hell your point is, other than to get to be “right” about something.
Yeah, the ad hominem hijack about Martin’s personal life was “worse” than his hijack of my thread, in that it delved into territory that was not only technically unrelated, but intentionally hurtful. What you fail to give credit for, is that that particular hijack didn’t really grow any legs and divert the entire thread onto that subject. In fact, several people, myself included (and I am supposed to be the subject of the OP, afterall), stepped in to denounce the subject matter as inappropriate, and not long after that, the person who brought it up in the first place, basically posted a “mea culpa”, saying it probably would’ve been better had he posted it in a more appropriate thread.
And then it died, going right back to the other hijack you wished to continue; McCain vs Obama and calling all the democrats on this board trolls.
That’s the difference between the other thread and this one. Martin Hyde steadfastly refused to drop the subject, going so far as to post in a completely different thread in a completely different forum – one that was specifically about the points he was arguing – that he felt my thread was the most appropriate place for that discussion and he fully intended to continue with the hijack.
That’s why that thread was closed and this one hasn’t been (yet).
So while you have a point, it, too, is an irrelevant one.
At least the person who did it apologized. You and Martin Hyde have not acknowledged that he did anything wrong. He did, though. You just happen to agree with him politically, so you can’t admit that he ruined a perfectly good thread. That unwillingness to admit any wrongdoing on the part of people you agree with makes you much less worthy a debate opponent than someone who’s big enough to own up to behaving in a less than stellar manner.
