I don’t think that’s the case. Didn’t her boss hire her specifically because he was setting up a superhero law division, and wanted Shulkie as its face? And we’ve seen they have at least one attorney who specializes in intellectual property law.
I’m really loving this series. They’re using the short format perfectly.
My son was super mad about the injustice at the ending of this latest episode. It’s a good lesson for the whole “with great power comes great responsibility”. The actual bad guys that fight low and cowardly require a different response than the smashing we saw earlier. Her better choice would’ve been to own her behavior–after all she did nothing illegal or shameful. But that was too difficult.
To me, it’s clear that Jen has some anger issues, despite her protestations in earlier episodes. I think she’s going to end up in the Abomination’s group therapy again. It’d make for a perfect end-of-season stinger.
I know it’s not the healthy ending, but I still want the Yurt Crew to beat up Josh. Heck, hire them at the firm! Or even get Pug to kick some butt. He’s been sadly underused. Hoping if we get a season 2 he gets more time
It might also be that she didn’t understand that now she can cut loose with her anger. And that she wasn’t prepared for the downsides of being She-Hulk (and obviously Bruce really couldn’t get her ready for the Inceligencia.
That’s been the MO all season and I have to say it bothers the heck out of me. She’s supposed to be a really good lawyer - a career she loves and doesn’t want to give up due to Hulk blood. But every time they have her in court she is unprepared, sloppy, winging it, etc. They portray her as completely inept, presumably to get the results and storyline they want, but it’s so frustrating. It’s fun that she’s got all kinds of love life problems, but as a lawyer she should not be inept. It’s my biggest problem with the series.
The core problem there is that quality legal preparation and process in incompatible with both humorous hijinks and “Hulk Smash” drama. “Attorney at Law” does come last, doesn’t it?
As @Elmer_J.Fudd pointed out, comic book law bears the same relation to real life as does comic book physics. Really, her practice of law is the most fantastical element of the show. I don’t think a real lawyer would decide to produce a witness while in court, then put her on the stand completely unprepared. Nor would a judge permit such a surprise witness to take the stand, without giving the defense time to prepare.
Yeah, I get it. I wouldn’t want the show to turn into a slog of legal briefs, so things have to move briskly and with humor. But I don’t think that requires portraying Jen as incompetent and unprepared in court.
Since someone brought up Werewolf by Night above I just want to mention: the little “Special” graphic before it started was clearly trying to evoke the CBS Special Presentation intro or am I crazy?
We watched Werewolf by Night last night. It’s is perfect! They’ve captured the look and feel of an 1950s monster film. Almost no modern techniques (I saw some digitally enhanced mist in a couple places), everything is classic make-up and practical effects. There were even reel marks! They actors emoted like actors of the period did.
Season finale dropped today. A lot of Fourth Wall breaking. Great cameos by Hulk and Daredevil. I assume that K.E.V.I.N. is supposed to be Kevin Fiege.
Morris Walters gets my MVP vote for handling the press the way he did.
i was amused when this week, a newsperson in a conversation regarding the mar a lago boxes, stated that he was not a lawyer, but watched a lot of law and order, and she-hulk, that that it seems that there are clear cut charges going on. she-hulk! shout out. so funny.
The ultimate fourth-wall break – She-Hulk confronting her own writers! I am pretty sure that the head writer in the writers’ room was Jessica Gao, the actual showrunner for the series.
