Ojai was my home town growing up. It means “nest” in Chumash, or something like that. It’s been awhile. I think there was some argument about what it actually did mean, but it’s definitely a Native American language.
Funny thing is, when I was growing up there I thought it was the most boring place around. Now that I don’t live there anymore, I realize how nice I had it.
Hijack: That’s what all the hoopla is about, that one picture? I don’t think it’s very risque in the least bit. What is she supposed to do, dress like a nun?

Nothing like a little (carefully manufactured) controversy to increase publicity. Remember the ‘outrage’ about the “Hit me baby” lyrics of the young Britney Spears a few years ago? Same principle.
As far as the near-naked activist, you gotta love the ending of that newspaper story:
It was founded by a lolcat.
Her ideas intrigue me and I wish to subscribe to her newsletter.
I don’t think she’s weird for riding around like that. (And hey, I once had a girlfriend from Ojai.)
I do think she’s weird, however, for pushing the Dr. Emoto stuff.
