This is what I picked up from the TV news-
As we all know, since her son was killed in Afghanistan (the good war), she’s been a very vocal anti-war activist. Apparently, she & Code Pink have been protesting outside military bases, specifically over the use of unmanned drones to take out terrorists, with a lot of collateral damage. (I agree- I prefer direct assassination squads of the sort that Dick Cheney tried to get going.)
So anyway, an old veteran (I don’t know if he was actually with the base or just showed up as the one counter-protester) got it her face & knocked away her bullhorn. AFAI could tell, he actually kinda instigated it.
Anyway, the authorities finally got her & her group to move off the base, then they parked their truck in the middle of the road to continue the protest, which then resulted in them getting ticketed for impeding traffic. So she was bitching about getting assaulted by the old man & then being the one to get a ticket.
And that AFAIK is the rest of the story.
Some more of the story.
She and her crew were saying that using drones to fight a war is inhumane.
An old retired militery guy starts yelling at the group that they don’t support the troops.
The group yells back that they do support the troops.
The yelling goes back and forth until they the old guy and Cindy are in each other’s faces.
Cindy puts the bullhorn right in the old guys face and yells at him through it.
He knocks the bullhorn out of his face.
Then an old lady jumps in between the old guy and Cindy and is practically chest bumping the old guy as she yells in his face.
At that point I was laughing and didn’t catch the last little bit of video and the news station moved onto another story.
Her position seems internally contradictory to me. If she objects to the war because American soldiers are dying, then she should support the use of drones, because such a use will allow us to kill enemy soldiers without putting American soldiers in danger.
It could be that she objects to the war because people are dying, not just US Soldiers.
