Shepherd. Shepherd, shepherd, shepherd.

I’ve been waiting until I’ve noticed that there are no threads with this particular spelling mistake on the boards. (I really don’t like confrontation!) But, folks, the dog is not a “shepard”. No, no, no. The “herd” part comes from Herding - you know, what they were bred for? “ard” doesn’t cut it.

I believe that if you can’t even spell the darn dog’s breed correctly, you shouldn’t have one, and I won’t help or even join you in your threads.

Same goes for Shih Tzu, Chihuahua and the like.

Now, I know I can’t spell worth a darn, and I type even worse, but to me, spelling your dog’s breed wrong is like getting your spouse or kid’s name wrong every time. Knock it off!

(Feel free to add your own “typos that matter” rants!)

Shouldn’t that be dogs?

You started it.

Chicken CHICKEN.

No.

The breed of the dog? Seems possesive to me, but I NEVER said I had a grasp of apostophe use, either!

Thank you. That was wonderful, and I think I have been to that same presentation!

I have a Catahoula Leopard Dog. Even the vet can’t spell it.

I’ll add people who think it’s funny to say “SHIT-zoo.” Hardy har har, and you know what? Grow up. Besides, it’s “SHEE tzoo.”

Also, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: if you’re going to be an atheist, learn how to spell it.

a-: not
-the-: god, deity
-ist: believer, follower

Telling people you’re an “athiest” just makes you look stoopid.

The one that makes me see red and pretty much stop reading a thread is breaks/brakes. I don’t really care if you confuse homonyms. GET IT RIGHT DAMN YOU. Because it’s really jarring.

Well then why isn’t the dog called a Sheepherd? Last time I looked I could not find any “Sheps”.

Well…shit, Sue.

Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo

Unless the OP intended this reference, in which case consider me whooshed.

Would you believe I’ve seen it spelled Cathowling Lepperd dog? (I used to work in a shelter - the dog being surrendered looked more like a beagle, to me!)

No whoosh, CalMeacham , I hadn’t seen that one for so long I’d forgotten it. Thanks for the reminder!

Neveah is not heaven spelled backwards. Hoard and horde do not mean the same thing. Rediculous is utterly ridiculous.

…unless, of course, you’re James “Super Chikan” Johnson.

I have a dasch…dachs…dahch…dash…wienie…wiene… dog! :stuck_out_tongue:

I bet the OP never lived on Sheppard Avenue in Toronto…

As a kid it took me forever to remember how to spell it properly. That stupid dog name kept screwing me up.

mushroom, MUSHROOM!

(props to Vinyl Turnip from the closed Otto thread)

Yep. I’ve seen that one a few times in the passed.
