She's Here!!!! A new doper

Congratulations!

I’ve liked the name Teagan since one of Dr. Who’s sidekicks had it. Unfortunately, my spouse also remembered the Dr. Who reference.

Take Care!

Good job, Shirl. ::happy dance::

I want pictures.

Shirley,

Congratulations to you and your husband on your new little dopeling.

Let me guess…she’s beautiful, right?

I knew it.

Shirley, Ujestational wonder! Congrats!

Wow! I’m so happy for you & your family, and because I really like you, I’ll spare you the details of my labor.

(Isn’t that what you’re supposed to do after a woman gives birth? Try and one-up her on the ol’ labor story?)

Congratulations!

Congratulations from Lion and I both.

You aren’t supposed to make labor sound so easy. Didn’t you read the Womens hand book on how to make your husband and children feel guilty for all your pain and suffering ?

I love the name too.

Ayesha

Congrats!!! Hope you and baby are doing well!!!

Congratulations! And wow, what a great post! Lets me feel involved. I wish every blessing on your whole family, over and above the blessing of Teagan herself.

(momentary hijacking - apologies): techchick, how the hell did you do that smiley? It’s appealing and irritating at the same time.

Congratulations! I’m delighted everyone is well, and wish you all the best.

Catrandom

OK, so admit it! Don’t all babies look alike? No one ever agrees with me when I say that.

Fond belated congratulations, Shirl. What else can I say? Your descriptive story makes me want to find a mate upon whom I can sire a few Crudelings.

Fantastic!

Anyone who doesn’t believe in miracles has never attended a birth!

May Teagan Live long, love well and always have smooth seas and a following wind, with just enough challenges to keep her strong.

Blessings to you all!

Congratulations, Shirley! May she thrill you and delight you and allow you occasionally to sleep.

Woohoo! My daughter-in-law is here! Woohoo! I am beside myself with GLEE! Woohoo!

Shirl, my last labor was easy. I didn’t have drugs, though. I wanted them. Oh boy, did I ever want them. But it all happened way too fast (got ya beat on the quick dilation–3 to 10 in an hour–can you say “OUCH”?).

Teagan is a beautiful name, too. Let us know if you get some pictures up!

We just got our 6 1/2-month-old sleeping through the night for the last three nights, and after reading your post I actually starting thinking it might be nice to have one more. For about two seconds.

Seriously, congratulations, Shirley.

Arnold, I agree, I think all babies, including mine, look alike at birth.( My kids come out looking like they have a greek father with dark complections and lotsa hair. Within weeks they lighten up and morph into the average white baby.) If parents waited until the baby came out of the womb to decide on the name, they would all be named,
" Walter Matthau" All babies look like angry grumpy old men, IMHO.

Cristi - I haven’t told my husband yet of the arranged marriage. Or course, I haven’t told him yet of all his stuff I’ve systematically tossed out over the years. Maybe one day he’ll just notice something askew.
The other fascinating aspect of the birthing procedure was getting to see the umbilical cord. Not being cut, per se, but when it is cut the Doc checks to see if three blood vessels are there. Less than three can be bad ( as in if it is two vessels, Downs syndrome chromosonal stuff that makes parents lose sleep.) I thought it would have to be sent to the lab to verify, being that blood vessels are usually microscopic. BUT, when in the cord, they look like white grapes. It was really neat.

Oh, and we got a picture, again, of the placenta. What can I say, we are into this kinda stuff.

Now to show you how surreal the entire scene was, as Teagan was being spiffied up from the birth goop on her, and my privates were being sewn up ( I told the doc to install a zipper last time, but did she listen?)

I was carrying on a conversation with my doctor that bordered on weird ( for anyone else in this situation.) Now, when you are at home tonight in bed, spread your legs wide and picture yourselves naked, exposed and someone with a needle embroidering your privates back together. Got the picture?

There I was, I don’t know how I always manage to bring this topic up but hubby says I have a gift for it, discussing my favorite subject with my doc, Death. We went on and on for well, at least 15 minutes about medicide and cancer, preplanning funeral and losing family members. I looked at her and grinned, " I bet you’ve never had this conversation from your visual perspective after such a jubilant event before?" Heh. I’ve been asked by both doc’s in the practice to come back once a month to cheer them up from the phsycopaths they handle on an hourly basis.

When we finish a role of film and if I can use someone’s scanner, and then figure out how to put a picture here, I shall. But for now, just envision Walter Matthau in a pink outfit.

And to end this note, I feel like received Pamela Anderson’s discarded breast implants from the titty fairy today. Oh joy.

By the way, in my first post, I forgot to say “Congratulations.” I am sincerely happy for you. I’m sure little Teagan will soon stop looking like a “grumpy old man.”

Only a picture? Why not placenta stew?

Right on Shirley! Well done, and congrats on your new bundle of joy!
